Pepperpot Cottage is a lovely home away from home in the vibrant and bustling seaside town of Whitstable. Well-positioned a short stroll from both the beach and the high street, the Cottage provides the ideal seaside getaway to enjoy Whitstable’s boutique shops, restaurants, bars and the stunning sunsets. It also makes a great base to explore further afield. Whether escaping for the weekend or enjoying a week away by the sea we would be delighted to welcome you to Pepperpot Cottage.
Pepperpot Cottage is our cosy, cottage in Whitstable by the sea which has become the ideal getaway for our family! Every time we are in town there is always a new exhibition, menu or tipple to try or a different walk to take. We are always available by phone or email throughout your stay if you need us. During your stay, our housekeeper, Sophia, will also be available.
Whitstable’s high street is packed full of wonderful eateries, unique watering-holes and amazing shops selling local produce and artisan bakes. You'll be debating over whether to go to Birdie’s (a Whitstable landmark) for their Beef Wellington, Wheeler’s Oyster Bar for, you guessed it, Whitstable Oysters and phenomenal picnic boxes or Sunday Lunch at Samphire (some of our current favourites)! There are plenty more great places for brunch, lunch and dinner and we will be more than happy to help you out with any recommendations (we have a list in our guide book). After a long day perusing the shops, catching the sun in the summer months or walking along the seafront, there are plenty of great watering-holes. We would highly recommend The Twelve Taps which has an ever-changing array of craft beers/ales and gin shelf, Porto wine bar, the Tankerton Arms and of course the Old Neptune which is the perfect place to watch the sun go down (check out our photos for the evidence). Whitstable’s location means there is always something to do. It has plenty of different shops, exhibitions and the harbour market which always provide us with plenty to explore, as well as the Oyster Festival (September). The town also offers the opportunity to explore the coast and Canterbury. For those that like walking, you can walk along the seafront to Seasalter or further to Faversham if you really want to stretch your legs or head east to Tankerton and Herne Bay, which is a more traditional seaside town. A short train ride away are the coastal towns of Ramsgate and Margate. The city of Canterbury is accessible by bus (20 minute journey from the bus stop at the end of the road), train and bike and is home to the famous Cathedral, a rich variety of shops and restaurants. For those who wish to explore the sea, the Yacht Club provides rentals and in the harbour itself there are boat trips along the coast where you can visit the Maunsell Forts.
