Property info

The Beacons was once a riverside farm and the barns and cottages of the 17th century still remain today. Additions were made to the front of the property in the early 1700’s and the house has had very little change other than modern decoration and comforts. Many of the original features including the spiral staircase; moulded ceilings and fireplaces remain. These add character to the property. The Beacons Guesthouse is spread over three floors, with facilities to meet the needs of each individual guest. The Guesthouse is set in the market town of Brecon, which is situate in the heart of the Brecon Beacons.

Neighborhood info

The historic market town of Brecon is situated to the north of the Brecon Beacons mountain range and lies within the Brecon Beacons National Park. It is one of the three largest towns in the county of Powys and serves as an excellent base for exploring the surrounding area. Brecon is rich in history and architectural interest. Remnants of the original town walls can still be found, alongside many fine Georgian houses and traditional shopfronts. The town is home to an impressive cathedral, and on clear days visitors can enjoy magnificent views of the Brecon Beacons, including Pen y Fan, the highest peak in southern Britain. The town has a long-standing military presence and is home to several military establishments, including Dering Lines, which houses the Infantry Battle School, and the Barracks, home to the 160th (Wales) Brigade. Brecon is also associated with the Gurkha Mandalay. In addition, Brecon is the northern terminus of the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal, which extends for approximately thirty-five miles to Pontnewydd and Cwmbran. The canal was extensively renovated in the 1990s and now features two mooring basins, scenic towpaths, and Theatre Brycheiniog, a popular cultural venue.
