The Hoose in Helmsdale is an old fisherman’s cottage situated on a south facing harbour side. The property sleeps 6 people Upstairs it has 2 double bedrooms, and one bathroom and on the ground floor there is a twin bedded room. The Hoose also has a downstairs walk in shower room which is our second bathroom. Also on the ground floor there is a cosy sitting room with an open fireplace and flat screen TV and a stunning large open plan kitchen/dining and sitting area. All these rooms have fabulous views over the harbour and are light and spacious. Over the kitchen dining space there is a play room/study/exercise room which is accessed by a second staircase. At the back of the house there is a large enclosed garden which is well planted and has a barbecue and seating. In the garden shed guests are welcome to find deck chairs, beach equipment , fishing rods etc for their use. The fishermen in the harbour catch crabs, lobsters and langoustine which they are happy to sell and there are ample pans etc to cook them with or alternatively they are great on the barbecue. In the village of Helmsdale there are 2 restaurants one of which is the famous La Mirage fish and chip shop and also 2 pubs which serve food. There is a Spa shop and post office which is open every day which sells nearly everything. There are also gift shops and an excellent Fishing tackle shop called Glen Coast which sells permits and bait for fishing on the famous salmon River Helmsdale. There is also a golf course in the village open to visitors as well as a new tennis court which can be booked. The Timespan Museum is situated by the river in the village and is an award winning enterprise with an interactive history exhibition which is open every day. Visitors will find plenty of walking routes either up on the hill or along side the coast or simply enjoy sitting out the front of The Hoose watching the activity in the harbour.

Guests enjoy the harbourside setting and the charms of the famous salmon fishing village of Helmsdale. Sit and relax watching the fishermen bring in their catches of lobsters , crabs and langoustine or wonder up into the village and walk out up onto the hills or along by the river.
