Welcome to The Old Smithy, a cosy and characterful retreat set within our 160-year-old Welsh stone cottage in Trefriw, a beautiful village in the Conwy Valley on the edge of Snowdonia National Park. Once the village smithy, the space retains its heritage through original features and carefully preserved tools found on the property, blended with warm and comfortable interiors. With its own private entrance, kitchen, sleeping area, TV and shower room, The Old Smithy offers a peaceful and self-contained base for exploring the very best of North Wales.
We have lived in Trefriw since 2014 and feel incredibly lucky to call this special village home. The cottage is surrounded by natural beauty, with mountains on one side and open fields leading towards the river on the other. Guests can step straight out onto public walks from our back gate, and the enclosed garden is a lovely place to sit and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Buzzards, red kites and herons are often seen overhead, adding to the sense of escape and tranquillity. Guest note: We live in the main family home with our daughter and our Border Collie, Bobby, who may sometimes be seen in the garden, and loves nothing more to greet our guests. (Please let us know if this is a problem and we will accommodate) For this reason, we kindly ask guests to keep all gates closed at all times. Perfect for exploring: Trefriw is an excellent base for discovering the best of North Wales, including Zip World, scenic lakes, forests, mountain walks, cycling trails and endless opportunities for photography, art and relaxation.
Trefriw is a fantastic central localtion for activities such as Tree top walking, zip lining, mountain go carting (ZIP WORLD), mountain climbing, mountain biking, leisurely walks around 2 beautiful lakes and forests. It is a wonderful area to get your creative juices flowing, if you dabble in art or photography then look no further than our beautiful little village.
