The Smithy is a delightfully converted detached one bedroom 19th century cottage, formally a blacksmith’s workshop, nestled in the picturesque hamlet of Plompton, just a 10 minute drive away from Harrogate. It lies tucked away in the corner of Plompton Square which was once a stable block and workers’ cottages of a grand country estate. If you’re looking for a quiet romantic getaway for 2, The Smithy is an ideal location with scenic surroundings and country walks nearby. You’ll have access to a beautiful private walled garden, with fruit trees and wild flowers (located just a few yards away), where you can relax, enjoy your morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening. If on the other hand you want to use it as a base you won’t be short of things to do. Nearby, the Victorian Spa town of Harrogate offers many delights including the Victorian Turkish Baths and Spa, The Pump Room Museum, the famous Betty’s tea rooms and the RHS Harlow Car Gardens. Within a few miles you’ll find the Cathedral city of Ripon, Knaresborough Castle, Ripley Castle, Bolton Abbey, Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden and the beautiful countryside of the North Yorkshire Dales National Park. The Smithy has a stunning open plan living area with vaulted ceilings and exposed wooden beams (actual reclaimed timber from a ‘Battle of Trafalgar’ ship), creating a cosy and inviting atmosphere. The comfortable living area is perfect for relaxing with a book, listening to music or watching the TV. The fully equipped Kitchen comprises a range of fitted modern units with cooker, microwave, fridge and washer dryer. There is a cosy double bedroom with a vaulted ceiling. The shower room has a modern white suite with WC, washbasin set within a vanity unit, and walk-in shower with tiled floor and walls and a heated towel rail. We will make sure you have all the immediate essential's on hand as well as fresh linen and towels. There is full free WiFI and a flatscreen smart TV, so you'll be able to log onto your favourite subscriptions and be feeling right at home in no time. You have exclusive access to the cottage and the picturesque secret walled garden. Free parking is available on the premise

The Smithy is located in close proximity of Plumpton Rocks, a 30 acre parkland with dramatic Millstone Grit rock formations, romantic woodland trails which wind through bluebells and rhododendrons. The site has been designated a Grade 2* listed man-made lake set against a backdrop of towering rocks eroded by the wind. It has been described by English Heritage to be of outstanding interest. Please note the park is seasonal and there is a charge so please check the opening times their website.
