Beautiful old cottage. Was clean and comfortable and felt very welcomed. Loved sitting in front of the fire. Had thoughtful treats that everyone appreciated and even real milk, which we didn't expect. Really loved our stay here. We don't have anything this old in New Zealand, so this was a wonderful experience for all. Thank you.

Knaresborough is a lovely place to wander around and explore...

Knaresborough is a lovely place to wander around and explore. It's a quaint market town full of history, beautiful buildings, and plenty of places to eat. We had lunch at The Carriages, which we'd definitely recommend, and the little antiques shop in the train station is well worth a browse. If the weather's nice, an ice cream by the river is a must. If you're visiting during the summer, be prepared for it to be busy. Parking can be a challenge, so it's worth arriving early to secure a space. The rowing boats on the river are also very popular, particularly in the afternoon, so if you'd like to hire one, it's best to do that earlier in the day before the river gets crowded. The riverside and viaduct are particularly picturesque and are definitely worth taking the time to explore.

A lovely town centre area, lots of shops and places to eat and drink. We went by the river and went to old mother shiptons cave tourist attraction. A craft market was also on around the old castle area, lots of dog friendly pubs too which was great for us as we traveled with our dog.

Knaresborough is very much a town of two halves; the higher, market place, pubs and shops and down lower by the river, which is very quaint with a few cafes. We walked from Grimbald Bridge, down Abbey Rd and into Knaresborough. It's a wonderful walk and can't be recommended enough. The upper part was a bit tired in places but it had a great selection of pubs and independent shops. There is the ruins of a Castle there with awesome views of the viaduct and the River Nidd. Descend to the riverside and it's stunning. Local attractions include 'Old Mother Shipton's Cave' which is worth a visit. Drake's Fish and Chip shop is excellent but it does get busy. Our favourite pub was the Cross Keys. 8 out of 10 for Knaresborough.

It has been over 40 years since I last visited Knaresborough so there has been lots of change, much of the surrounding countryside is now housing and the traffic is very busy even through the town centre. There are some interesting shops and the riverside is still worth a visit but overall we found it less of a relaxing break than we had hoped for. Plenty of places to eat out at. Sad to see a number of the bars shut down now Lovely walk along Abbey Road, peaceful there. Enjoyed the murals dotted around the town centre too.

We love Knaresborough, been coming here for years for the Bed Race in June, and Christmas Market in December. Walking along the River Nidd, stopping for coffee and cake and watching the boats is so peaceful. Mother Shiptons Cave is always worth a visit. Great bus service to Harrogate, every 10 mins. Also regular trains to Leeds and York. Good restaurants like Zolsha, great curries, and Carriages.

We chose to stay in Knaresborough because it was close to A1and we were travelling home south from Scotland. However we thought it was a lovely town, beautiful riverside, interesting architecture, including castle, nice shops and Wednesday happened to be market day. Mother Shipton's Cave and Petrifying Well were the perfect way to spend a very hot afternoon.

The pictures didnt do it justice it's very nice in the pictures but so much better in person. The hosts make its feel very welcoming and its very well presented. Close to Knaresborough Town centre but its very quiet area. Didn't have any issues so didnt have a need to contact the hosts however they sent there contact info just incase and I feel that if I had needed to contact them it would have been resolved ASAP. They aslo have a welcome book that gives you information on the local area places to visit and eat and other activities.
