The Stroops is a self contained semi detatched one bedroom flat, beside my own house. Both properties were built by my husband and I. The flat is very cosy, has amazing views and is situated in wonderful walking country. This is the great outdoors of the Scottish Highlands, however, so please have suitable outdoor clothing and footwear. I use and recommend winter tyres from October to April
I am a semi-retired teacher of music, with a pony and miniature Yorkshire terrier - who will not disturb you, unless you want to meet him. I love skiing cautiously, and occasionally write for our local paper and other publications.
Apart from exploring the surrounding hillsides and their wildlife, nearby Helmsdale offers golf, river and sea fishing. There is a beautiful sandy beach 6 miles south, at Loth. Helmsdale itself is an interesting village with its own story which can be further investigated at the Timespan heritage centre. The village has several restaurant options, and there is a Spar mini market. Visits to the West or North coasts are only approximately 90 minutes drive away, and John O’ Groats is even nearer. The Stroops is also a useful place to break your journey when exploring the North Coast 500, or travelling to or from the Northern Isles of Orkney or Shetland.
