We are Kat & Spencer, your hosts and owners at Twentieth Century B&B, We have spent a great deal of time and effort in providing what we hope is a very warm, welcoming and homely environment for your stay. We love welcoming people into our house, and are keen to share our story of how we came to own it and how we choose the names and themes for our rooms. We are both very passionate about twentieth century design and have gone to great lengths literally to source original furniture and features for the house. This has taken us as far south as Cornwall and as for north as Scotland! Spencer loves cooking cakes, his favourite is Lemon Drizzle and is regularly baking one to share with guests. Kat loves gardening and is working on growing fruit and veg in the garden which can be used for the guests breakfasts. Kat is very keen on environmental issues, so we use as much free range or organic produce as we can in our breakfasts, and source many more products that are cruelty free, fair trade, organic, local and environmentally sustainable.

Twentieth Century is a unique Art Deco house, built in 1935 and situated just a short distance from Minnis Bay which is famous for it amazing sunsets. The building was renovated in 2019 returning much of the house's period charm for which the we have received a local heritage award in recognition of the amount and care that went into the restoration. Twentieth Century offers four themed guest rooms, Art Deco, Mid Century, 30/40s Aviation and Space Age 70s, Each roomed is named after a person who has a link with the house, the land or the local area. Guests love the period details and comment about how special the place is and how much they enjoyed their stay. Although the rooms are full of period furniture and fittings, there are modern touches such as also smart TV's, DAB radios, tea and coffee making facilities and hair dryers. The three larger rooms have balconies, where the guests can sit out on and enjoy the fresh sea air. Breakfasts are all cooked to order, using as many ingredients as possible that are local, fair trade and organic. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free diets are all catered

Minnis Bay, is in the village of Birchington-on Sea and has a beautiful 'Blue Flag' sandy beach, which is a popular place to relax in the sun, swim or participate in many water sports. This area of Kent has a beautiful coastline and lovely countryside as well as many picturesque coastal towns and county villages. In easy reach by car, train or bus, guests can visit nearby Margate, Broadstairs, Ramsgate, Sandwich, Deal, Herne Bay, Whitstable and the historic city of Canterbury. London can also be reached directly by either train or National Express coaches. There are many varied activities to do in the area, for example coastal and countryside walks, cycling paths, museums, art galleries, antiques and collectable shops, theatres, cinema, river boat trips, nature reserves and wildlife parks. Birchington-on-Sea has a traditional High Street in walking distance from the B&B where there is a good selection of cafes, restaurants, micro pubs and many independent shops. For those wanting a larger shopping experience, Westwood Cross is a short distance from us and includes most large high street shops. There really is something for everyone.
