Our cottage is a solid stone 18th century building that was divided into two cottages over a hundred years ago. It is situated in the oldest part of Knaresborough a pretty conservation area with the river Nidd close by. My husband and I have restored the cottage which when purchased over thirty years ago was just a shell....we have a passion for interior design and do all the work ourselves. The cottage was featured in House Beautiful .Please note the room for our guests is an attic room...there are two small flights of stairs and the attic features large oak beams so tall people may need to be aware,but that is the feature of the cottage.
Having sold a small business ten years ago my husband and I semi retired and set up a bed and breakfast in our cottage. Although we have just the one room we have a passion for looking after our guests ,spoiling them actually. We are both retired and we enjoy meeting new people and our guests seem to love our friendly homely environment. We have a small Westie dog...Bella who is very well behaved and social.... and she is not allowed in the guest room . We do offer a parking space for the duration of your stay , however due to the age of the cottage and surrounding area you need to be aware it is quite tight as we share with our neighbour. There is restriction free parking close by and a very reasonable cost car park five minutes walk away.
We are in a beautiful conservation area. There are some lovely walks along the river and the views are stunning. We are fortunate to have two wonderful Inns on our doorstep ,both serve fine beers and great food. We are easily accessible to Harrogate and York by train bus or car and an easy drive into the Yorkshire Dales. Our little town has a castle (derelict ) with spectacular views a weekly market and a variety of restaurants and traditional pubs. It is a lovely friendly neighbourhood.
