This comfortable and peaceful one-bedroom annexe is the perfect retreat for a couple. Situated in the pretty conservation village of Gavinton, a few miles outside Duns, the property sits on a 50-acre organic farm. Recently refurbished, the property offers a new kitchen with a dishwasher, combi oven/grill/microawave, underfloor heating throughout, wood burning stove, smart TV, wifi, private parking and outdoor seating area. Guests are welcome to explore the farm with sheep, geese, hens, pigs, many stunning views and the restful sounds of wildlife. Our farmhouse annexe has been newly renovated to a high standard. With Egyptian Cotton bedding and Hungarian goose down pillows, in a tranquil rural environment, we are sure you will sleep well and enjoy your retreat here.
Our family relocated to the Scottish Borders in December 2018. We have two young children and traded in the city life for a piece of 'the good life'; a small organic farm near Duns in Berwickshire. Andrew now spends most of his time farming and all that it entails and Alexa is a Primary School and Yoga teacher. We love having people come to visit and share in our experiences and we are delighted to now be able to offer our self contained one bedroom flat to guests. Gavinton, has a village hall with cinema nights, weekly yoga classes (taught by Alexa), belly dancing and monthly coffee mornings. Gavinton has a number of beautiful walks and cycle routes nearby and is within walking distance (30 mins) of Duns, which is a lovely walk through the hills. There you can find a lovely swimming pool and sauna and fitness center with regular fitness classes. The nearby River Tweed has excellent fishing and there are many horse riding stables nearby. In Duns there are a number of boutique coffee shops, pubs, takeaways, community cinema and restaurants. In Duns there is plenty to do including a walk around and visit to the 14th Century Duns Castle, the Jim Clark Museum and the nearby Manderston and Paxton House. You can also visit the seaside town of Berwick-upon-Tweed which is a 25 min drive and has a train line to Edinburgh, Dunbar and Newcastle. Or simply relax and enjoy the slower pace of life.
