Wren's Nook is a gem! A small, comfortable Grade 2 listed historical Cottage, on a really narrow Cornish country lane in Poldark country with it's own playing field & pirate ship. Yes - we said PIRATE SHIP! You park next door on our drive as the road in front of your cottage is really narrow. However if you have a very small car there is a a narrow driveway in front of Wrens Nook. Pubs, restaurants, beach & shops are in walking distance. Wrens Nook delivers authentic comfort, far reaching vistas, wonderful sunsets, peace & quiet. Outdoor spaces are to die for. Ideal for couples or families with 2 kids. Our local child friendly beach, Trevaunance Cove, is a mile walk. Live like the Poldarks for a week. Wrens Nook is an original Tin Miners Cottage built in the 1714. It has many original features including the Georgian sash windows, cupboards, stairs & wood panelling. We've added a good quality wood burner and a free basket of logs too so that you can cosy up during cooler evenings. There's a standard size double bed in the original 1700's bedroom with large ensuite & a double adult Bunk Bedroom too - bring your own narrow travel cot if you want to put baby in 2nd bedroom. If you're looking for a king sized, double glazed, glitzy, perfect lines type of place, Wrens Nook is not for you! However, if you want character, original Georgian features, quirky walls, doors and ceilings - this is it! It is very romantic. In fact, our parents honeymooned here in 1959-the start of a real life love story.
Many guests return year after year. It's always a joy to see them return. The old part of the cottage is small and original. Nothing is king-sized here - it is just like going back in time, but the extended parts of the cottage are more lavish and spacious. It's a heady combination of old and new. We have kept the historical secrets of Wrens Nook in tact and added lots of comfort where it's listed building status will allow. Idyllically situated on a really narrow and twisting Cornish Lane that was built for the odd horse and cart, you park next door on our spacious driveway. This a house steeped in time and character and suits families who appreciate it's historical charm....and it is oh so romantic. If you are bringing baby, we have a travel cot - but it is too wide for the 2nd bedroom and will only fit the main bedroom - although our family use the downstairs utility room as baby's bedroom! It's quiet and easier. Wrens Nook is perfect for walking the Coastal Path too which you can join nearby. Oh, and did I mention the pirate ship? Super for kids - but equally enchanting for the Grown Ups to sip a G&T aboard.
You will enjoy the Cottage and it's fabulous outdoor spaces. Trevaunance Cove and the Beach is a 1 mile walk. There are rock pools, a pub, takeaway and a restaurant, public toilets and we have a lifeguard. Book early to get a beach hut and then you can leave stuff there all week. St Agnes village is only half a mile away. It has village shops, pubs and restaurants. Everything is walkable. Kids can happily play in the garden and also in our surrounding fields - although our Dog, Dante, will often come to say hello. We keep all 11 Poldark novels at the cottage because St Agnes was the inspiration for St Anns and Sawle, the village in the Winston Graham books. Wrens Nook offers you a different, more relaxed, view of life surrounded by nature and history.
