At the horse farm Akurgerði lives a german-icelandic family. I, Sabine Girke, am from the South of Germany. My passion for the Icelandic Horse and my love for this beautiful country brought me 2010 to Iceland. I live here with my husband Daníel Ben and 3 children. We like to have personal contact with our guest and are at any time happy to help, so your vacation in Iceland becomes truly special. Beside some insider Tips we also offer riding tours on well trained and good horses.

Akurgerði Guest Houses are set on a family-owned horse farm located in the beautiful area of Ölfus in the south of Iceland, about 8 minutes drive from the towns Hveragerði and Selfoss and 30 minutes from the capital Reykjavík. At our farm Akurgerði we offer private riding tours and qualified riding lessons on well trained horses. There are many possible activities in our area, like hiking to a natural hot spring, fishing, golf, riding,... Many of Icelands natural sights like the Golden Circle, Þingvellir, many beautiful waterfalls and a volcano crater are in a short driving distance. The location of our farm Akurgerði is private and secluded, but at the same time we are just 2 minutes drive to the main Highway 1 and just 8 minutes drive to the towns Selfoss and Hveragerði where you can find several supermarkets and great restaurants.
