About a kilometre from the centre of Lerici, in the quiet residential village of Serra, is Villa Zanello, a ground floor apartment in a recently built villa. Lehreechee Mina, Una zebra a pua’ following the success in 1960, was just twenty but she was already a famous singer and in the sunny summer arrived at the dock of Lerici. She arrived on board of Riva Ariston, a shiny and fast motorboat that usually accompanied elite tourists from Santa Margherita to excellent restaurants, and all the people in Lerici acclaimed her. This is a little episode of a flourishing period of rebirth of the place, “where the sun and the sea have no chains” and previously, Edward John Trelawny wrote to Percy Bysshe Shelley that he wouldn’t be in La Spezia that year because the beaches were too crowded. Well then, that dock under the domain of Pisa has witnessed many stories; from the admiral D’Oria onward, young, old, foreign people, old and new couples of lovers, kids playing, “there, they stay silent, staring at the sight of the village and the sea.” “In the shadow of the castle”. Lerici has a ferry service to and from Portovenere and Cinque Terre. The sports activities can be played all the year: the sailing boat, with the renowned school of S. Teresa, the wind surf, diving, also trekking, mountain bike, tennis and golf. There are some places to visit close to Lerici:Far only 7 km, there is the beautiful town of Sarzana; the archeological area of Luni, far 15 km; the famous caves of white murbles of Carrara, in the Apuan Alps, far 30 km; the fashionable Versilia far 30 km and, naturally, the city of La Spezia. All these places are reachable in few minutes by car by the A12 highway, of Sarzana or La Spezia, far only 8 km.
