Funky Monkey Lodge, Myoko is a Japanese style of guest house / backpacker’s hostel where you can meet other travelers to enjoy the night together or relax with your family and friends before & after your exciting day in Myoko! The hosts are into mountaineering, kayaking, rafting, diving, traveling around the world and of course, snowboarding! and eager to introduce this beautiful Myoko Togakushi Renzan National Park area to people from all over the world. All rooms have different decorations and themes; Santa Fe (native American), Bintang (Balinese), Istanbul(Turkish), Yamagoya(mountain hut), Hinoki (Japanese cypress tree), and Igusa (tatami mats) from our favorite places! NOTE: This is a friendly guesthouse, NOT a party guesthouse. As sharing some spaces with other guests, please respect other guests and our house rules.

Neighborhood info

The lodge is surrounded by forests and very quiet. We can enjoy BBQ in our garden. Walk to the central Akakura street with many restaurants and bars is 15-20 minutes by foot. We shuttle our guests between Akakura resorts/main street and the lodge in the morning and late afternoon based on a time schedule. IF you come by car in winter, 4-wheel-drive cars are required. If your car is not 4WD, please make sure to contact us. We are happy to give our guests safety tips and local information for your outdoor exploration and help with your travel planning in Japan. Seiko as National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter & Government-certified Domestic Travel Service Supervisor, also provides local tours for our in-house guests, including local snowboarding/skiing tours, cultural experience tours such, sake brewery tours, snow-monkey tours, eating-out tours and more!
