The Claim studio cabins are nestled in native planting and pine woodland, surrounded by wineries and just five minutes from the regions restaurants and cafés. Each cabin is fully self-contained with its own garden verandah, parking and bike storage (under back verandah). A shared guest laundry is also available Those riding the Lake Dustan and Kawarau Trails will find themselves able to peddle out their front door to the start or the trail just across the road; or alternatively take one of our shuttles to the Gibbston Valley and ride all the way back to your accommodation.
With a deep love for the outdoors and a welcoming spirit, we can't wait to host you at The Claim and help make your travel adventure memorable. A family-owned and operated business, Matt and Carolyn have spent their life enjoying everything from rock climbing, tramping, hunting, kayaking, and fishing; and are now also avid lovers of everything on two wheels, from cruisey Sunday rides to adventurous mountain escapades. This love with the outdoors and with our region has led us to create individual accommodation spaces that enable visitors and guests to experience the same sense of freedom, inspiration and passion in their adventures.

From our doorstep at The Claim, you can ride, sip, and savour your way through one of New Zealand’s most captivating regions. From vineyard loops to alpine descents, Central Otago offers some of the best cycling in New Zealand. Whether you’re chasing kilometres or cruising between cafés, every trail promises world-class scenery at every turn. Just 100 metres from The Claim, you can join the Lake Dunstan Trail, a spectacular ride hugging turquoise waters, suspension bridges, and dramatic gorges all the way to Clyde. For a gentler journey, the Cromwell Heritage Precinct Loop offers boutique shops, lakeside views, and a perfect mid-ride coffee stop.
