Hi, I’m Maso—born and raised in Tanzania and endlessly inspired by the beauty and diversity of this incredible country. From its vibrant culture and warm people to Zanzibar’s turquoise coastline, there is so much here to fall in love with. Hosting is my way of sharing a little of that magic. I love helping guests discover local places, good food and memorable island experiences beyond the usual tourist trail. My approach is simple: give you the space to enjoy your holiday at your own pace, while always being available whenever you need advice or support. At Cocohut, we take life one coconut at a time 🥥—pole pole, just like island life. Our small boutique guesthouse is located 600m from Kendwa Beach, usually a 7–10 minute walk, and just a short ride from lively Nungwi. Each private, lockable room has a comfortable 5x6 ft bed, ensuite shower bathroom, air conditioning, fan, wardrobe and dedicated workspace. Complimentary daily housekeeping is included, with the option to skip service whenever you prefer. Guests share a fully equipped kitchen with a refrigerator, oven and blender, as well as a relaxed lounge and dining area. It is a sociable setup, while still giving you the privacy of your own ensuite room. Free WiFi is available throughout the property, although island connection speeds may occasionally vary. Cocohut also has a security guard on site 24/7. Moses is based at the property and can assist with practical matters during your stay. He speaks basic English. Your host Maso is fluent in English and is available anytime by message or phone for recommendations, transfers and support. We are currently expanding Cocohut, and minor interior finishing may occasionally take place next door during daytime hours. Zanzibar can also experience island-wide power cuts. Cocohut is installing a full solar system for all rooms, which is expected to be completed by September 2026. Whether you are here for Kendwa’s sunsets, Nungwi’s energy or simply a slower island rhythm, we would go coconuts to host you 🌴

📍 Cocohut is tucked away in a quieter part of Kendwa, around 600m from Kendwa Beach—usually a 7–10 minute walk along a local unpaved lane. The area is relaxed, with beach bars, local restaurants, shops and boat trips within easy reach. Lively Nungwi is just a short taxi or motorbike ride away, while Stone Town and Zanzibar Airport are approximately 1.5 hours by car, depending on traffic. Taxis and motorbike taxis are the easiest ways to get around, and we’re happy to help arrange airport transfers, local rides and island activities. Close enough for the beach, quiet enough to slow down 🌴
