It all started in August 2008, when I decided to go to Africa as a volunteer and, among the various opportunities, I chose to go to Zanzibar for a month with the non-profit association “Why”, which is concerned with the island’s children… this period somehow changed my life. I was so affected by this experience in Jambiani that I decided to continue to spend my holidays in this wonderful village and, over time, this led to a unique life decision. I left by job as a pharmaceutical representative and I became an overseas coordinator for the Why non-profit association. When this incredible experience ended and I decided to return to Jambiani to try to create something that would involve long-lasting ties with this magical place. Thus I built Nyumbani Residence with the intention of providing service different from the classico resort and of satisfying the demands of more independent customers, inclined to organize a holiday closer to the village without foregoing any of the usual comforts.

NYUMBANI MEANS “AT HOME” IN KISWAHILI I would like whoever stays in the Nyumbani villette to experience an intense, free, real and unforgettable holiday in the faraway island of Zanzibar, all whilst feeling truly at home. Pampered and spoiled when it suits them, but free and genuine like being in their own home. The property has seven single and two-family Nyumbani apartments. We prioritize quality and privacy, in order to offer our guests a service of care and attention to detail, capable of meeting every need. The villettes are furnished and designed to give you total freedom for you stay, with none of the constraints of package holidays and large structures. Pool or beach, lunch at home or private chef, dinner at a local restaurant or in the luxury resort…our facilities are capable of meeting our guests’ demands for comfort and flexibility. The apartments are designed for travel enthusiasts, guests in search of relaxation and those who wish to experience in full our beautiful island. Just a few yards from the sea, all the villas are equipped with a kitchen, living area, private bathroom, patio and look out onto the shared pool.

Neighborhood info

The property is located in a strategic area, exactly on the border between Paje and Jambiani. This location will allow our guests to discover the beauty of the East Coast, live close to the most active pole of the coast (Paje) but at the same time enjoy the relaxed and genuine atmosphere of Jambiani. Located on a small hill, we enjoy a wonderful view and a light breeze that will allow you to withstand the African heat even in the hottest season. Just 3 minutes walk from the pristine white beach of Jambiani and immersed in the African context of the surrounding lush nature. Near the residence you will find restaurants and beach resorts where you can pamper yourself with a lunch or dinner and in this case take advantage of the beach facilities. We offer a free shopping service but you can also venture into the nearby local shops for basic products. All excursions or sports and sea activities can be organized together with us and close by the Residence. For those wishing to visit Zanzibar we can easily help you to rent bicycles, bike or cars.
