Private English Basement apartment in the scenic, safe and upscale neighborhood of Rock Creek Park just a few miles from the White House. A perfect retreat for a single person or a couple. Pets stay free. Fenced off gated backyard and Free parking.
I was born in Moscow, Russia. I have a Master's degree in the Middle East Studies from Moscow State University. So, I speak English, Russian and Arabic. I have been living in the Washington, DC area since 1985. I used to teach at Johns Hopkins University before I started my own business. I am very social by nature and I am usually fascinated with any human story. I love Washington, DC and I believe that it is very easy to fall in love with this city and its ethnic cosmopolitan spirit.
While this apartment is located only 3,5 miles from the White House, it feels like a countryside retreat with deer coming to your back yard and biking/hiking trails just at your doorstep. It the words of our visitors, this place is the Best Kept Secret in DC. We are between the 16th Street and Beach Drive. 16th Street is a straight line to the White House and most of Washington business and tourist attractions. The central location of the house in its close proximity to downtown makes Uber one of the most convenient and cost-effective ways of transportation. In rush hour, an Uber ride for 3 people may cost the same or less than a Metro ride. BUS. 3 buses run along the 16th Street to the White House: S2 S4 and S9. A bus stop is 7-10 min. walk from the house. We provide Smart Trip cards for riding buses and Metro. CAR. You will not find a better place to stay in DC if you are driving. No worries about finding the parking, no cost, and no fines for overnight parking. Blagden Ave. is a 27/7 public parking road. In addition, you will appreciate driving along Beach Drive, a scenic, traffic-lights-free road to the National Mall, and a perfect shortcut to avoid downtown traffic. BICYCLE. There is a Capital Bike Share station conveniently located two blocks from the house. Bike trails and designated lanes to downtown are increasingly popular in DC.
