Having moved to Hout Bay in June 2022, I am still new to the area and learning about it. There is so much to see and do in Cape Town that I feel permanently on holiday - it is such a beautiful part of the world and I love having guests here, to experience this beauty.
I have been in the hospitality industry since 2012, running the successful AppleBee Guest Cottages in Grahamstown. Towards the end of 2022 we opened up the Leehaven Apartment, a large studio apartment with king ex-length bed and a small sea and beautiful mountain views from the upstairs balcony. In 2024 we opened our downstairs budget en-suite room called The Nook. In 2026 we are opening our new unit called Leehaven Cottage. As this comprises one whole side of the dual house, it is a fully self-catering, 3 bedroom unit suitable for families or working groups.
There are two friendly dogs on premises who live with the owner.
Just 1.5km from Mainstream Shopping Mall with banks, supermarkets, and restaurants.
Hout Bay has much to offer. A well-known bird park, a castle and the beach are just a few of the most popular attractions. The Lichtenstein Castle is a replica of the Gothic Schloss Lichtenstein Castle in southern Germany and is available for Events. This is a unique setting with African mountains and a gothic Castle which offers something different for travellers and locals.
As with most places around Cape town, hikes form a massive part of things to do on a sunny day. Hout Bay corner is one of the most popular hikes and can be completed in under 2 hours. The beach is also on the top of most people’s lists and is well worth a visit.
The most popular place to visit for locals is the Hout Bay market. Food, drinks, live music and interesting people are always on show at this cool local market.
THE WHARFSIDE® GRILL is regarded as one of Africa’s best seafood restaurants, not only for its authentic harbourside ambience and spectacular bay views, but because of the amazing food it serves - the lobsters, the prawns, fisherman's baskets and innovations like Calaprawnia® and Houtbaisse® have made it famous. It is open for a fisherman's breakfast, lunch and dinner.
