Portofino is more of a feeling - a stepping into of an experience. A much loved villa, with a unique setting on the foothills of Chapmans Peak drive. The ideal home to enjoy views of sea and mountains and treasured privacy. Relaxed and spacious - take in cocktails on the huge circular balcony with views over the bay and valley at sunset, after a long and languid afternoon at the secluded pool, and then enjoy dinner overlooking the sea and twinkling village lights. Or simply stroll with family or friends, down to the restaurants below for an evening out.
I am a lover of art, nature and good living. It gives me great pleasure to welcome guests to my beloved home so that they can enjoy what I know to be special and distinctive.
Hout Bay is a microcosm of South African society and encompasses all our people, in an exciting and evolving village, held safely between mountains and the sea. A diverse selection of restaurants, both high end (such as the unparalleled Tintswalo) and familiar meeting spots such as Dario's (for bonhomie and a dollop of good wholesome food) are on your doorstep. Venture into the colourful Harbour and taste the bountiful harvest of fresh seafood, from a rickety wooden bench overlooking historical cannon sites. Breathtaking mountain walks will lead you through gardens of our indigenous Fynbos and leave you speechless, as you look down on our small but growing village. If you love a gentle stroll into the village to collect your delicious sourdough bread or a pastry that you fancy, or if you prefer to explore our local wineries, Portofino is perfect as your landing spot to hold you through the experience.
