The Trailhouse is down to earth and close to nature offering 3 en-suite bedrooms in the guesthouse and a detached, self-catering Studio. The guesthouse rooms share a dining room, equipped with a fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, cutlery and crockery. Each room has a private garden or veranda with a sea or mountain view and an outdoor braai/barbecue area is available. The Studio is an open plan, detached loft with an en-suite bathroom and kitchenette, sea and mountain views.   We are centrally located and within easy walking distance to shops and restaurants as well as the main beach and Bass lake. A small budget guesthouse bordering the mountain with a waterfall and hiking trail meters away. Rod's trail runs along the foot of the mountain through the heart of the Cape floral kingdom with exquisite Fynbos, plenty of birds and small wildlife to see. It's an easy hike of about 3km leading to the Harold Porter Botanical. The host is knowledgeable about the area and passionate about it's conservation. Betty's Bay has 3 beautiful beaches for swimming, surfing, body-boarding or long walks. Strong winds at times provide great conditions for kite surfing. The African Penguin Colony, Sugar birds and The Cape Rock jumper, porcupines and baboons as well as seasonal Whales are among some of the local residents. There are hikes along the Palmiet river in the Kogelberg Nature reserve, a mountain bike trail, rock climbing routes and tubing, rafting or swimming in the river. Hikes up to the waterfalls in the Harold Porter Botanical garden is a must. Sandboarding and Paragliding down the dunes at Blesskop mountain. The Penguin colony at Stoney point is a great favorite and is 3km away with our local colony being here year round. Many water birds and wild horses can be seen at Rooisand Nature reserve around 20km from here. Betty's Bay is within an hour's drive from Cape Town, Hermanus and Stellenbosh. There are top wine estates and markets as well as farmstalls par excellence in the Overstrand area all within an hour's drive. Whales come to our waters to calf from June to November. There are 2 great golf courses in the near vicinity or glide through the gorges in Elgin with Cape Canopy Tours. One day is simply not enough.. What to bring: Hiking shoes, swimwear and beach towel. Warm clothes! (it can get chilly) And a good attitude :)
