Calton Hill

Calton Hill is home to some eclectic Edinburgh monuments. Originally set aside as an area for the townsfolk to practice sports and tournaments, it’s now a beautiful city park with endless vistas and historical impact. Head to the Nelson Monument and Dugald Stewart Monument to catch the iconic Scottish architecture.

I have been to Edinburgh many times and had visited Calton Hill but for the first time I climbed up Nelson Monument 143 steps! Wonderful views of the city and interesting information about the Nelson Monument, Lord Nelson itself and The Time Ball

The rooms were comfortable and nicely laid-out with furniture and all. I like the extra touches (and still have the rubber duck provided by the room). It was in a GREAT part of town, right by the train station, within steps of Calton Hill, a short walk to The Royal Mile, it was a great place.

It's in a fantastic location, right next to Calton Hill which I HIGHLY recommend walking up (not hard and so worth the view and monuments). Also, the decor of the lobby and of our room were very classically Scottish, which is why I chose it. The building is lovely and old, but well-kept. Our room was lovely and large, and I loved our big bathroom with a bathtub, and there was excellent water pressure from the shower. We also appreciated the coffee/tea facilities in our room.
