The location is amazing - the views are so picturesque! The staff are very nice and friendly, and even helped us fix the wheelchair when my wheel fell off! They give you good advice on what to see in the area and coupons. From Traunkirchen you can easily reach all other lakes (if you want to). The new spa on the top floor is luxurious and breathtaking. Breakfast is very good! Coffee is great. Loved that you can install apps on the TV, so I could watch a live TV channel from home and watch the news. So cool! Fast Wi-Fi.

Great location. Amazing breakfast and food in general. Every single member of the staff delivers perfect service. This is challenging and a great achievement. Respect. The room was nice and most importantly quiet. The view to the Loser is wonderful. I’m not the Spa type so I didn’t use it a lot but it’s nice, it was not overcrowded and the teabar plus nuts and dry fruit is welcomed. I would have appreciated a higher water temperature in the pools but that’s minor. It was warm enough to feel good inside. The golf course is around the corner and next to the hotel. I’m not an expert but the course looked rather mediocre to me and just as much maintained as necessary. But that’s not part of the hotel and not their responsibility. I will definitely come back again.

Incredible location, staff, facilities, and restaurant. The staff was so kind and warm. The sauna facilities were magnificent and private access to the lake was worth the entire trip! They even gave us a gift of salt when we checked out.

Very nice city.

Very nice city. Please stay for a night to be able to visit the city on evening or early morning when there are less tourists. Visit the side streets, they are even more interesting than the main one and there are no tourists. I recommend to eat at Schirmbar Hallstatt (Umbrella Bar Hallstatt). It's expensive, like everywhere else (be ready to leave 80-100 EUR for two), but the food (especially fish) is good. Also bring cash, Austrians still live in the Stone Age as many places do not accept cards.

St Wolfgang is absolutely beautiful, not too busy but with...

St Wolfgang is absolutely beautiful, not too busy but with enough restaurants and bars and things to do. Transport is frequent and efficient and people are friendly and kind. There is nothing to dislike about St Wolfgang! The FREE bus pass was an added bonus and we used it a lot, even back to Salzburg. A great touch!

Bad Ischl is a beautiful imperial city offering plenty of activities to do, like long promenade along the river bank, watching the beautiful stylish imperial buildings, visiting museums, tasting the local dishes. Otherwise, it is surrounded by mountains where you can easily go for a hiking, via ferrata, or climbing. The Katrin gondola is one of the oldest cable cars in Austria, is also there and brings you near the summit if you want an easier walk, a nice Hütte food, or just enjoying the view from the top.

It's close to Hallstatt, but without the big crowds and with better accommodations. It's easy to reach Hallstatt and the cable car. It has gorgeous mountain views everywhere you look. The pizzeria in Obertraun was nice (it has a lot more than pizzas). But we really enjoyed the restaurant "Uferwirt Seeraunzn" which is about 30 minutes by car or train (Obersee station), but it's worth getting there. The location is perfect with a view over the lake and towards Hallstatt. The food is also great and reasonably priced.

Mondsee is a very pleasant area - very pleasant lakeside gardens and facilities. We were particularly impressed by the Post Shuttle Bus facility which was great for visitors without their own car facilities. The service provided by the Tourist Information Office was also first class.

This area of the Austrian lakes is perfect for off-season hiking. However, Gmunden lacks specialty coffee places. There are also few interesting pubs and restaurants, and many places close early. Shops were typically open only until 6:00 PM.

When we were there the village was quiet and we had great...

When we were there the village was quiet and we had great weather. It can be good for sunsets. We self catered so cannot comment on the restaurants but there are two stores and a petrol station that had most things you would need. It's great for walking. We walked both directions partly around the lake including to St. Wolfgang where I can warmly recommend Julia's Imbriss Treff for a light lunch. Of course from there you can get the cog railway up to the Schafberg which is dramatic and was one of the three top highlights of our time in Austria. We also visited Salzburg, Mondsee and Hallstatt,though the later was already quite busy even in what is a shoulder season.

The area is absolutely stunning, with breathtaking scenery and beautiful nature all around. It is a perfect destination for anyone who enjoys spending time outdoors, whether hiking, cycling, or simply exploring the surroundings. There are plenty of opportunities for active days in nature, and the views make every trip worthwhile. We really enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and the beauty of the landscape. It is definitely a place worth visiting, especially for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Lovely little village, easy to get to by bus from Salzburg. Recommend getting the ferry to St Wolfgang and hiking back on the Pilgrim's Path (which is pretty steep in places) for wonderful views of Wolfgangsee
