The add-ons were great. The pools and the breakfast were excellent. However, the bed could be a little more comfortable. And our room had mold around the window frame. Not just a little bit, but a lot. I know that is a problem in some parts of Spain, due to very high humidity, but it is inexcusable for a hotel that boasts a 4 Star rating. Unfortunately, I realized it when it was very late, and we were staying only one night anyway, so we didn't ask to be moved. But besides that, the hotel offers really good value for money. The sulfur pool was very relaxing and my wife loved her massage, and very reasonable price.

Property was very historic and beautiful. The location could not be any better. The restaurant was also excellent. Be sure to get the room you paid for as our first room was not as expected. They graciously moved us to a superior room with balcony and a view. We visited in January which is low season and there were no crowds.

This was our first visit to Merida and we cant wait to return the place is steeped in Roman history and very easy to walk around some hills but generally easy walking. we stayed just outside the centre but the walk in was extremely beautiful if you go via the river path. if you don't fancy the walk there are bars and restaurants locally offering good tapas and main meals, I would definitely recommend Bar Carroza a short walk from our apartment and the best tostadas around.

Caceres is an incredible place seeped in so much history it is imposible to not love its tiny streets, cobbles and palacios on every corner. If you leave the main square (plaza mayor) there are some fantastic places to eat which offer not only fantastic food but also very original and charming decor. The waiting staff are all welcoming and attentive.

A two night break is probably enough in Trujillo, it is quite a small town. Being the birthplace of Francisco Pizarro led to us exploring the history in more depth, and the walk up to the Castle is essential as the views are incredible. Take care to bring some cash, cards are not accepted in the Castle and some churches

In my case, I was looking for somewhere to break a 7 hour car journey, and Zafra just happened to be there. It's a nice town, with plenty of places to relax and to eat. We found good homemade horchata; and there's some really beautiful 15th century chapels and gates. The view from the top of the Parador was excellent - pano attached - even if we had to buy a coffee to count as a guest of the hotel. Best food we had was at "La Fea". We ordered starters and mains and the waitress looked worried, and said "they're very large...", so we settled for one starter and one main between us, and she was right!

Hervás is a centre for walking activities in the Ambroz Valley and is surrounded by forests and mountain ranges. The town itself has a modern part with all the usual amenities. However, the heart of Hervás is the historical Jewish Quarter that runs from one of the pretty squares down to the Ambroz River. This part is Medieval and very interesting and atmospheric. Hervás boasts an excellent book shop and many shops dedicated to local produce. There are good restaurants and coffee shops. It's a perfect base for a holiday in this part of Extremadura, Spain.

We stayed unplanned in town because of an emergency stop due to weather conditions. The location is great in the middle of Spanish country side but really not far away from Sevilla and Merida. Both magnificant places to visit. The town is the lhome of the Ham Museum. A small one but a very well mantained educational center with a guided tour for us. We found two stores in town just selling ham, and if you go online they ship all over Europe. The hotel we stayed is a spa we would have loved to explore. Next time:)

We spent two days in Merida which was enough time for us to visit the places in which we were interested. Upon arrival we went to the Tourist Office and the gentleman who assisted us was very helpful and enthusiastic, which was much appreciated. He recommended purchasing a ticket that covered entry to the major monuments, which we did. Unfortunately we did not find this to be value for money, although if you are an EU citizen it is because it is half the cost that we had to pay. At the time of our visit, some parts of the amphitheatre were inaccessible due to setting up for a forthcoming theatrical event and the Temple of Diana we felt was better viewed from outside, rather than within, especially since the explanations were only available in Spanish. We loved the Casa de Mitreo, which was fascinating to see. Despite the negatives, overall we really enjoyed our time in Merida and would definitely recommend visiting here.
