The staff was very kind and even greeted us around town, the room was very well kept and clean and most importantly very homey. We felt right at home! The breakfast was also excellent, with a small buffet of cakes and desserts and a menu of various dishes, both savory and sweet, all very well-made and in generous amounts. Breakfast was also served in a truly wonderful terrace full of lemon trees which made the experience even more beautiful. The free beach was also a 5-minute walk away and we could always find a space for two towels in the afternoon, which meant that when coming back from exploring the other places we could always put on our swimming suits and go snorkeling (very recommended since the water is crystal clear and full of small fish). We could also borrow their beach towels which was very useful. The way from the train station was a bit uphill (although the whole town is full of ups and downs) but overall pretty quick and full of restaurants and souvenir shops which can come in very handy. We definitely recommend the affiliated restaurant "Da Eraldo" for some good quality fish and seafood and "L'Osteria" for some good local food; the staff of both of these was also very friendly and very willing to make some small talk. We also recommend the trekking trail "Sentiero Azzurro" but be aware that there are some pretty long uphill stairways so start early in the morning if you're planning to go there in summer. Overall our stay was wonderful and there were no complications, truly a wonderful place to spend a couple of days!

It was centrally located. We had plenty of space., it was clean and they provided a very nice breakfast in the morning with good cappuccino. Also, it’s right next-door or across the street from a Catholic Church so we attended mass on Sunday, which was nice although we did not understand Italian .

The owner! She was absolutely the best. Super kind, helped us shape both of our trips to Portofino and Cinque Terre in the best possible way. We saw so much we did not initially plan. Also, she gave us a better room because it was available. And the day after we checked out, we had left our car in a parking lot on the train station and spent the whole day in Cinque Terre. We came back late, the parking was locked and we could not get our car out. She helped us out by calling people she knew and when that didn’t work, she offered to accommodate us for one more night free of charge. At the end we managed to get our car out, but we will forever remember her kindness and generosity.

FAQs about hotels in Cinque Terre

Cliff-Hugging Beauty

One of Liguria’s most beautiful areas, the Cinque Terre are 5 UNESCO World Heritage-listed villages dramatically positioned on the Mediterranean coastline.

Each has a train station, but the most exhilarating way to visit the Cinque Terre is on foot. It’s not easy at times, but is definitely rewarding. The route starts (or finishes) at Riomaggiore, the southern-most village, home to a range of accommodation including a few Cinque Terre hotels on the beach.

The easy road between here and Manarola is called the Via dell’Amore, or Lovers’ Lane. Colourful Manarola houses hug the rocky cliffs overlooking the turquoise water below. The next village along is Corniglia, the only one not by the beach, but which offers panoramic views from its hilltop position.

Next is Vernazza, arguably the most picturesque of the 5, spread over a narrow promontory jutting into the sea and with a castle tower at its tip. Still very much a fishing village, it is centred around its small harbour and beach.

The longest beach is at Monterosso al Mare, the last town on the trail. Due to its location and easy access, it is home to what are possibly the best Cinque Terre hotels for families on Booking.com. However, whichever village you choose to stay in, you can expect wonderful views and fantastic food.

Review for Sesta Terra Nature Spa Escape in Framura, Italy Nestled in the breathtaking landscape of Framura, Italy, Sesta Terra Nature Spa Escape offers a serene retreat that perfectly blends the beauty of the coast and the majesty of the mountains. The azure waters of the Ligurian Sea shimmer with a mesmerizing hue, creating a picturesque backdrop that is nothing short of enchanting. Despite the chilly and rainy weather during our stay, the hospitality at Sesta Terra was exceptional. We were graciously upgraded from our glamping tents to a luxurious suite cabin, complete with a private hot tub and patio. This thoughtful gesture made us feel incredibly welcome and at home. The spa facilities were nothing short of magnificent. The Turkish baths, sauna, cold water bucket dip, and hot tub provided a rejuvenating experience that left us feeling refreshed and pampered. The restaurant, with its jaw-dropping views, served fresh and delicious food that tantalized our taste buds. Our waiter, Philippo, provided impeccable service, making us feel right at home. The dinner was magical, with the food, the view, and the service coming together to create an unforgettable experience. The staff, fluent in Spanish, English, and Italian, ensured a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Overall, our stay at Sesta Terra was amazing, and I highly recommend this nature spa escape to anyone seeking a tranquil and luxurious retreat.

The breakfast buffet was plentiful and offered something for everyone. The staff was helpful and friendly. We were able to use the hotel bikes for free and anytime we wanted. The bike path in Levanto along the coast was beautiful. The room was nice, but a little small for a family of three. (But who wants to stay inside when visiting the Cinque Terre?) The location of the hotel was excellent, close to everything. The train station was within 5 minutes walking distance. We would definitely come back!

We loved this charming beach town.

We loved this charming beach town. We were told that you can see all of Cinque Terre in a couple of days, but we wish we had stayed longer. It was a perfect place to unwind after a busy trip to Rome and Florence. We traveled with teens, and they all agreed we should have ended our trip there and stayed for longer--4-5 days as it really felt like a relaxing vacation. The beach is busy, but you can't beat having a beach bar right on site. The water is bathwater warm and amazingly clear. The small town is adorable, and we had some of the best meals during our whole Italian trip. We took a boat tour of the villages, which was great. But we wish we had more time to explore all the villages by foot as well.

Levanto is the perfect home base to explore the Cinque Terre. The town is mostly flat so it is very easy walking around the streets. There are so many excellent dinning options all around town. The beaches are wonderful and the water is so clear. There are free beach areas and pay areas for chairs and umbrella. We spent 4 days here at the end of a 28 day trip through northern Italy. It was so nice to sit and relax on the beach. The very relaxed atmosphere of the whole town was just what we needed. c

Where do we start! We are athletic family.

Where do we start! We are athletic family. Everywhere in town was heslthy evidence of stairs and walking to and from fun, nature, the training, churches, the castle. It is a great start for the SVA and many other trails. If you want to eat healthier than just cornetto and cafe, it’s available, just look at Coop5 and other negozzio stores. Now the ocean activities! The hidden river rock beach is spectacular, be brave and in seconds you are bobbing to body surfing. On the other side of the rock wall, choose a boulder( wear grippy shoes!) and experience amazing calm clear swimming near the fishing boats, don’t forget your goggles to see the schools of fish! If you have moxie, swim across the way to the rock formations and climb up to jump a10 ft comfortable cliff jump! There’s higher, but I left that to my adult sons and the teens! The restaurants are amazing: Il Grottino and gelatetia artegianale- she’s the best! If you are a post card lover, stamps are sold at venders with a capital T and a star shown and the Mail Drop is an orange box. 3 euro for international mail to US! We wish we could stay … forever!

We stayed in Vernazza while visiting all the Cinque Terre villages, and we would choose Vernazza again without hesitation. It’s less hilly than the others, has a decent beach and several easy spots to access the sea, plus great restaurants and cafés right by the water. The village offers beautiful views from the tower and has direct access to one of the best hiking trails, including the unforgettable Vernazza–Monterosso route. Manarola would be our second choice, but every village has its own charm.

Breath taking views everywhere!

Breath taking views everywhere! Church, small cathedral, castle & lots of narrow streets to explore on foot. (castle €5 per person - worth it!) Lots of great restaurants. Easy to get the 20 minute ferry (€8 per person) to La Spezia where there is a train station. Can't pre-book so buy your tickets on the day. Great Conad supermarket, small but it had everything we needed at a really good price. Reliable local taxi service if needed. Make the most of a swim when the water is calm as we found it can change from day to day. Lovely shops open all day, something different in each shop. Don't forget to add a lemon to your drink - the lemons in portovenere are sweet and make all the difference! Its worth the €5return ferry over to Palmaria island for the quiet beach & the views of portovenere. A friendly place to sit and relax and lose track of time!

A few days didn't feel like enough to explore Cinque Terre! It's such a beautiful and wonderful destination. Some people say it can be done as a day trip, but you won't be able to fully appreciate everything it has to offer. It's a little further from Italy's major cities, but it's absolutely worth the journey. There are lots of stairs, so I'd recommend packing light and avoiding large suitcases if possible. We'd definitely love to visit again.
