Both breakfast and dinner were wonderful! The owner and the rest of the staff there were so friendly and accommodating. Room was large and comfortable and they got us to lion rock early in the morning so we were at the top to see the sunrise!

The property is beautiful and in a very unique setting. The rooms are so spacious and have beautiful views. The staff at the hotel are absolutely incredible - so thoughtful and kind, helpful in so many ways. They made our stay extra special and made us feel cared for and welcome. Dhananjaya was so friendly and attentive and made sure that we had delicious breakfast each morning.

Central location walkable to shops, restaurants, and the main attractions. Breakfast was excellent. Danusha, the manager, was incredibly helpful throughout my stay. He provided great local recommendations and assisted me with booking transportation as well as a jeep elephant safari tour, which I highly recommend. He truly went above and beyond, even driving me to the ATM in his own vehicle one evening when I didn’t feel comfortable walking alone.

It’s a property with a soul, with decoration linked to some Sri Lanka famous movies. Rooms are great and all have a nice view to the big garden, pool and lake at the end. The restaurant is perfect, the hygiene is top, the quality of the food is great. People are super friendly. There is a great spa too with variety of massages. Ideal place to just stay and relax and/or visit some great places around. Very well decorated. A place where we will return.

BEST PLACE IN SIGIRIYA!! Bernard, the hotel manager is one of a kind! Super attentive checking your needs helping with everything he can. Simply amazing person who truly makes you feel at home. A Truly Restorative Wellness Retreat Our second stay at Ayugiri Ayurveda Wellness Resort in Sigiriya again was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were surrounded by the peace, nature, and genuine warmth from the staff. The setting is breathtaking — lush greenery, v tranquil views, and an atmosphere that instantly makes you slow down. Our suite was expansive and tranquil, with a huge, comfortable bed, a spa-like bathroom, and a private plunge pool overlooking the forest canopy. Mornings began with birdsong and soft sunlight filtering through the trees. There’s no rush here — just space to breathe, rest, and rediscover stillness. The Ayurvedic treatments were outstanding. The resident doctor was kind and attentive, and each therapy was tailored to our needs. The therapists were professional, skilled, and genuinely caring — every session left us feeling lighter and completely relaxed. The food was light, fresh, and nourishing, aligned with Ayurvedic principles. It’s not indulgent dining, but every meal felt like part of the wellness journey — balanced, beautiful, and made with care it perfectly complements the wellness philosophy of the resort. A special mention must go to the staff, who were exceptional throughout our stay. They truly go above and beyond — warm, attentive, and respectful, without ever being intrusive. Every detail, from the herbal teas to the evening turn-down service, felt thoughtful and intentional. We were surprised every time with the location of our b/fast and diners. A heartfelt thank you to Lackshan, who was wonderful with our little boy — he played with him, kept him engaged, and made sure he never felt bored. It meant so much to us and made our stay even more special. This is not a place for nightlife or crowds it’s designed for peace, rest, and self-care. If you’re looking for a luxury wellness retreat in Sri Lanka where you can truly unwind and reconnect with yourself, Ayugiri is a gem.

This is a resort that everyone should experience at least once in their lives. From the welcome to the departure, you will have the best hospitality with a warm welcome. The staff is well-trained to be attentive at all times. A beautiful property full of nature. Warm, relaxing resort. The lady in the reception sorted our WhatsApp, laundry, drinks and every other request. Thanks to the grounds cleaners are immaculately kept the garden, sweeping from sunrise to sunset and contain many different trees, shrubs and plants as well as animals and birds, well worth taking a closer look at to appreciate.

Nimal the property manager and his staff were great during our stay, and overall, we felt very taken care of. When we had trouble getting a tuk tuk via pickme/uber to get around, Nimal would help us get that sorted. No matter how late we got back, they'd always have someone waiting for us in the main concierge area to make sure everything's ok and get our breakfast order. When Nimal learned we were traveling to Ella on the day of checkout, he informed the kitchen staff and prepare a snack (delicious AND amazingly packaged sandwiches and bananas) and water for our travel. We'd stay here again!

Staying in the tree house was fantastic, one of the best experiences. Loved the jungle and feeling part of it. The staff was super helpful and made us feel very welcome, they offer so many unique activities (with fair prices). We never thought we would end seeing Loris! 🤩 Food was also fantastic, we wanted to eat Sri Lankan food and they offered us something different every day, always tasty. They accommodated my gluten-issues perfectly too. ah! and they even helped us sort out transport! We couldn't ask for more. I keep this place well saved.

From the beginning, the location was exceptional. Where the hotel was located was very nice. The view of the hotel facing the rock was stunning, pool view from the bar was exceptional. The buffet was great. The dinner was a bit over priced, however the service was great. The location was perfect for us to go for an early morning hike to the the Lion Rock. The breakfast buffet was great, very authentic. Highly recommend.

My trip to Sigiriya was excellent, and I was amazed by the...

My trip to Sigiriya was excellent, and I was amazed by the site itself. However, I was shocked by the entrance fees. There are different prices for tourists and locals, and I found that visitors were constantly approached by guides, all offering different prices for their services. I feel this should be better managed by the government, as Sigiriya is one of the country's greatest historical and cultural assets, as well as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I also felt that the historical information presented at the site does not fully acknowledge the contributions and influence of all ethnic communities that have shaped the history of Sigiriya. As someone of Tamil heritage, I noticed what I understand to be historic Tamil inscriptions on the walls, yet I did not see any reference to them in the official information provided. My impression was that some aspects of the site's history could be presented in a more balanced and inclusive way. Overall, Sigiriya is an incredible place to visit, and I thoroughly enjoyed the climb and the experience. It is a remarkable historical site that everyone visiting Sri Lanka should see. I hope that, in the future, both the visitor experience and the presentation of its history continue to evolve in a way that reflects the site's rich and diverse heritage.

Dambulla is a great city with significant historical value...

Dambulla is a great city with significant historical value in Sri Lanka, especially known for the Dambulla Cave Temple and the Pidurangala Rock hike. To avoid the high heat in the afternoon, I recommend visiting Pidurangala early in the morning or in the evening. An early morning hike offers an amazing and beautiful sunrise view. You can visit the Rangiri Dambulla Cave Temple at any time, but climbing the rock steps can be difficult in the afternoon due to the heat.

The town is a little gem.

The town is a little gem. Small enough to walk, easy streets to negotiate, great views, moderate temperatures, great food at half Kandy prices, a harmonious mix of Muslim, Tamil, and Sinhala citizens, there is a lot to appreciate in Matale.

This was the second time we explored the Naula area.

This was the second time we explored the Naula area. The views are surreal, and the drive under the tree canopy is absolutely beautiful. The roads are not very crowded, which makes the drive smooth and relaxing. You can also find many nice roadside food places that offer authentic local flavors. There are plenty of spice shops along the way as well. Apart from the stunning viewpoints, the area also has several beautiful temples and archaeological sites that are worth visiting.

The village tour was very disappointing. They didn't explain any thing during the tour. All you get is a short bullock, tracktor and boat ride. They eat the same food 9rice and veg) as can be found in Srilanka, so nothing different with the village food either. Dont get cheated

Dambulla is a wonderful place to stay, ideally located for exploring many nearby attractions on easy day trips. The Dambulla Cave Temple is our favourite highlight, and we especially loved its peaceful surroundings. Throughout our stay, we enjoyed delicious traditional food, which was truly exceptional. The people are incredibly friendly and always helpful, adding to the overall charm of the experience. Dambulla is also home to a large river and an international cricket ground, making it a great place to visit for cricket lovers when matches are on. Getting around is very convenient, with options including private tuk-tuk hire, self-drive tuk-tuks, or public buses. Dambulla is our favourite place to relax, explore, and truly enjoy a holiday in Sri Lanka.

A beautiful place on earth that there are lots of 360 degree view points. But if it rains it will ruin your plans. So make sure you depend on weatherly and visit Matale when it shows many continuous sunny days. Even on cloudy forecasts do not visit as all mointain tops then will be covered and you will not see the sights. when it is humid leaches also will be active and will become a painful experience.

From the last time I visited Sigiriya it has improved so...

From the last time I visited Sigiriya it has improved so much. It is looked after very well and kept very clean. I took my son and the guide who took us was very knowledgeable and helpful. The view at the top is simply amazing and a place you must visit if you travel to Sri Lanka.

Mainly there are 10-12 attractions in Matale.

Mainly there are 10-12 attractions in Matale. As I just stayed one day which was not sufficient to visit all the places. Among them where I went were also hampered due to the rain at time to time. Generally Matele was quit good tourist destination if it is planned well with couple of days.
