One of the best properties to stay in at Lake Tekapo. What a beautiful modern home with all the amenities you need. The place was close to everything and had an excellent living room and one could sit there for hours gazing at the stars in the night. We had a wonderful time and will definitely visit again.

Location is right in the middle of the town and only meters from restaurants. Parking is right at your door. We had room 12 which was warm and the bathroom was very large and would be suitable for anyone who need accessible facilities. There was a view from the front landing of the mountains and the lake but it was through buildings. The bed was comfortable, and the room was large. Breakfast at Doughboy Cafe was included and was a full hot breakfast which was great. The staff at the accommodation were friendly and helpful.

Relaxing Chinese place.

Relaxing Chinese place. Nice walking path by the lake and up the hill. Great views. Expensive shops. Nice drive by the lake (if the farm gates are open) - over 40km to the river crossing, with great views. "Dark sky" - not very dark thanks to shops, eateries, etc.

Fairlie is a lovely village with helpful and friendly locals. The Fairlie Bakery makes yummy pies and apple turnovers. The local 4 Square supermarket has all your needs, and the staff were so very nice. We had many beers at the Top Pub, and the locals didn't seem to mind our large extended family commandeering the back table and the pool table; lovely Ness the publican, even gave the younger family members some hints on holding the pool que. A walk to the river and ice-skating rink will reveal some revegetation underway. Once the rain cleared the view of the snow-capped mountains was spectacular!

We attended a Ukulele Festival in Geraldine which was brilliant. Geraldine itself was interesting, we think we would go again just to visit the places we had no time to see. There were lots of wonderful eateries, Mundells, Barkers, the Thai restaurant, Verde… . Very easy to walk around the town. The festival is a yearly event with a wide range of musical styles, so would appeal to anyone, even just as a series of concerts.

Stunning lake views, easy to spend hours just admiring the view. Very fortunate to have visited on a clear sunny day. Mackenzies Bar and Grill was a great place to dine - friendly staff and service was super quick with a tasty menu. Make sure you book in for star gazing, a very memorable experience! If you a book lover be sure to pop into Petronella's Bookstore.

I rehearsed with an orchestra in the Domain Pavilion. It was light and airy and close to town. I enjoyed a little “prayer for peace” at St Mary’s Church. The restaurants are good. Had two very good meals at the Village Inn. There were quite a few tourists in this pretty town. The Saturday market in front of the church had some lovely hand crafted things.

There were several not so good reviews by various guests and at first I was reluctant to book this place. However, we did and stayed in a 2 bedroom house facing the front compound and of coz, the lake! To sum it up, I wish that we stayed for more nights, Just to laze around the property (with an adequately large living hall and large glass windows facing the compound and the lake, poster perfect view) or sit at the compound sipping coffee or tea while admiring the lovely lake is simply wonderful. The garden was not untidy. It just being natural with fallen dried leaves to give it a countryside feel (it is!) vs an overly well manicured, "stiff" garden. That being said, we do not have any major complaints on the interior of the house. It is about 120 years old but relatively well maintained, not superb but no complaints. It was a bit chilly in the middle of the night (late May) but the blankets were adequate. A better or bigger heater could help, come winter. The lady (probably the caretaker) who met us as we were checking in was welcoming and accomodating. She was probably ensuring that our unit is fine if not, she would attend to any faults. We plucked some of the mini apples in the garden (taste good) which were too tempting to resist without checking with her first but when we bumped into her again we did inform her and she was alright with that. The lake is just a 2 mins walk and The Church of the Good Shepard, a mere 5mins from the property. So one can visit these places when the the tourist crowds have left. Best are early morning and late afternoon. From the Church, you can cross over a suspension bridge overlooking the immensely turquoise color, beautiful river to the main part of town. Just another 3 to 5mins walk.

Quiet town with all the amenities.

Quiet town with all the amenities. There is a nice cafe/restaurant called Eat which is worth a visit with very tasty and good value meals. Over the road, Mount Hutt takeaways offers tasty and good value fare as well. It serves Chinese takeaways and fish and chips. Of course there's also the Fairlie Bakehouse with its home made pies which are worth sampling.
