Louisiana

Louisiana’s most famous draw is its irresistible culture – think New Orleans jazz, Mardi Gras, and Creole cuisine. Known for vibrant festivals, bayou landscapes, and hearty food, it offers lively nightlife and musical heritage for singles, while families enjoy hands-on museums, riverboat rides, and kid-friendly festivals.

Top highlights are the French Quarter’s historic streets and bayous. Don’t miss a guided swamp tour to spot wildlife and hear local stories. Stay in New Orleans for culture and nightlife, Baton Rouge for museums, and Lafayette for Cajun food and access to rural adventures.

First, the woman at the desk was warm and friendly, and super helpful getting us a lower rate than we reserved it at!The hot tub in the beautiful and upscale feeling bathroom is why we came back. The bathroom is almost as big as the room itself! Has a stand up shower, double sink, hot tub with jets and a toilet behind a second door. I think we spent more time in the bathroom than the bedroom, LOL. The bed was a dream though with crisp white bedding that felt like heaven. The cost in regards to the quality is unheard of. Never expected to get something so perfect for such an affordable rate. Will definitely be returning on a regular basis!

New Orleans

The French Quarter has beautiful architecture and history, but it did not meet our expectations. We found strong odors of urine and sewage in many areas, marijuana smell throughout the day, many homeless people, and adult-oriented nightlife. It wasn’t the family-friendly atmosphere we were expecting.

Kenner

Kenner offer some great eating restaurants throughout the city. You didn't have to run to always run to New Orleans 19-minute drive from Kenner VIE Expressway. Mo's BBQ was Great and they were opened on the 4th. Plenty of Hotels in Kenner, I stayed at the Comfort Inn and Suites and it was a 10/10.

Old. Old. Old.
Shreveport

Old. Old. Old. We tried rooms on the 9th floor, the 14th floor, the and the 17th floor. Every room was moldy and musty. Should have left then, but stayed. Then found out that there was no water in the bathroom sink ! Entire hotel needs renovation. Will never stay here again if you gave me the room for free.

Slidell

Nola Inn was horrifying, we left that property after seeing their disgusting rooms with bugs, drugs, shattered mirrors and soiled linens… but then we went to Baymont by Wyndham and had a wonderful weekend in a clean hotel with very kind and helpful staff. Every restaurant and store we went to in Slidell was lovely. All the people we met (outside of the Nola Inn!) were sweet and lovely. The Nola Inn was our only bad experience. Everyone & everywhere else was super lovely!

Bossier City

Plenty of stores'. At the time of this visit to my granddaughter's house in Haughton, the freeway had serious reconstruction in progress to the area of the motel and my son in law was able to lead us to the motel after dark as the exits to the motel were closed for reconstruction. We are very senior citizens.

Houma

What we did see during our three days in Houma was impressive. The natives were very friendly! The layout of the city streets and avenues were conductive to getting to our destinations quickly. The Military Museum requires a visit (be prepared to spend at least a couple hours). The museum is a gem of military equipment from the Civil War to the present will bring a smile to those who served. There were other sites we wanted to see but did not have time. If low to mid-budget shopping is your desire, the city will certainly satisfy. We will return to Houma in the near future for another quiet, relaxing visit. And we shall eat again at Boudreaux's and Thibodeaux's; the fried fish is succulent.

Metairie

I like Metairie. It is charming and has culture of New Orleans without the busy crowds of downtown. You can enjoy delicious Cajun and Creole cuisine, beautiful parks, and easy shopping. It's only roughly 15 minutes from New Orleans and 15 minutes from the airport.
