Honestly, 10/10. The place itself was great and had everything we needed, but the host was the absolute best part. Super welcoming and incredibly helpful. If you're looking for a place with amazing hospitality, this is it.

This is a great Ryokan for anyone visiting Karumai as part of the Haikyu Pilgrimage. This is located in the center of the town near all the inspired locations that one would find in Haikyu. This Ryokan has all the basic amenities that one would expect from a hotel (shampoo, hair dryer, pajamas, etc.) and a restaurant, which had some great homey meals. When the host asked if I was visiting for Haikyu, the host was delighted to hear and provided a guide book on all the different inspired locations that I can visit. The town and Ryokan are accessible by bus from Ninohe and Hachinohe, but for anyone who is able to drive, I would recommend renting a car as this Ryokan has parking and some of the pilgrimage locations, especially the final one, will require a car. I would definitely stay here again if I come back to Karumai again in the future.

My wife & I stayed at Fulsato for one night on a Tohoku ski trip driving from Geto Kogen to Tazawako. We’ve stayed at many Ryokan on our trips to Japan and this was likely the best one. From the moment we arrived the staff was so kind and helpful. We got a room overlooking the river with our own private bath in the balcony. The other public baths were nice esp the outdoor one. The room was well thought out and immaculately clean. The best part was the food! Both the dinner and breakfast were kaiseki style and the presentation and flavors were amazing. The price was higher than we usually pay but it felt like a total value.

The amenities are great, the staff friendly, polite, and extremely accommodating. The food is outstanding - generous portions, extraordinary variety and really fresh as a lot of it is grown in the hotel garden. The location is a little out of Hiraizumi but it doesn’t matter - there’s a shuttle, and the location is serene and beautiful. Also the onsen is amazing!

Service. We were wow-ed by the service right at the moment we parked our car, a staff immediately came to gather our luggages, and then escort us to our rooms after check-in. The room was big beyond our expectation. Onsen leaves a smooth feeling skin.

Breakfast is excellent: Japanese and ample quantities. Small selection of western food available. Dinners are sensational; a rotation between Sukiyaki, Bbq and Shabu Shabu. All delicious in their own way. Accomodation is 3 star and comfortable enough. There are private and public onsens - the public ones are, perhaps, slightly small. Location to Appi Kogen is perfect - a two minute drive at most, even in foul weather. The tariffs are very reasonable, in stark contrast to 1.3km up the hill, on snow.
