Dinner Plain is a beautiful, very small town, however,...

Dinner Plain is a beautiful, very small town, however, outside of ski season NOTHING is open, so be aware of this and factor that into your holiday as the nearest town is Omeo, which is a very windy 45 minutes away. Mt Hotham only a 12 minute drive away does have one pub/restaurant that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but that's the only option near Dinner Plain. It was disappointing that the accommodation portal did not advise of this fact anywhere as Google suggets all businesses are still open in Dinner Plain, even outside of the ski season, but this is incorrect. I would not return to Dinner Plain at this time of the year again as the accommodation is overpriced for the lack of conveniences at this time of year (early October). To be clear, this was one week POST official ski season (no snow for skiing or even tobogganning.

The views from mount Hotham were incredible.

The views from mount Hotham were incredible. All the staff at The General were super friendly and helpful and the Pizzas were amazing. Was a bit disappointed that they weren't serving Chicken Parmi. Only downside of being here in the summer is that there is only one general store and one pub open, luckily they met our needs

We used a door code which was sent on the day of check in.

We used a door code which was sent on the day of check in. Clear and easy instructions. Location of the house is perfect, just a few minutes away from the resort. My 19-month old daughter enjoyed the snow in the backyard very much. Good restaurants around the area too. The village is beautiful especially in the snow. Highly recommend!

Mt Hotham is a fabulous spot to ski, enjoy the beautiful...

Mt Hotham is a fabulous spot to ski, enjoy the beautiful scenery, and just relax. The ski runs are numerous, and varied in levels of skiing required. The lifts are good and well staffed. All staff I contacted were efficient and helpful. The restaurants we used were good, but more drinking facilities are needed as bars are too crowded.

Dinner Plain is my favourite place in Australia.

Dinner Plain is my favourite place in Australia. We make the annual drive down from Sydney to give our dogs snow holidays. It’s such a lovely alpine village with nice restaurants, bars and beautiful chalets to stay. The village has no entry fees, plenty of parking, lots of activities for kids and those that love nature like xc skiing and snow shoeing. Dogs are very welcome here and I will continue to choose to holiday here for my dogs. The village staff are also so accommodating and lovely. For more advanced ski runs DP is a short drive from Hotham.

The Skiing options are the best available given the weather.

The Skiing options are the best available given the weather. The dining options are limited….most venues have minimal vegetarian options. Bring your own food and ensure your accom caters for that. All the staff are very friendly. The slope grooming is phenomenal….so when the season seems slightly dubious wrt the offerings, Hotham is the best option in Victoria.
