Hotel is part of a camping and caravan park area but that didn’t take away from a warm welcome feel you sometimes you don’t get at a larger hotel. It was clean and friendly, the rooms were spotless and a really good size. WiFi worked and good coverage, plenty of car park spaces. Staff were warm and friendly.

We loved all the original details and character that survived the restoration of this wonderful old building. The host went above and beyond her normal duties for us and it was greatly appreciated!

We were there to visit family in St Athan so spent most of our time there. Our stay at 2 Stable Cottages was lovely and we would definitely go back. Priscilla was lovely and the home made cake and milk were very much appreciated. The little house was lovely and so peaceful. Loved our stay there

The island was smaller than expected.

The island was smaller than expected. Not all Gavin and Stacey locations were open. I was surprised by the lack of traditional pubs. Great pizza place called Valletta. Wouldn’t recommend the good shed, the food wasn’t good and it was expensive. Easy to walk around Barry and the island, but remember you are in wales so there will be hills.

Our trip to Gileston was completely ruined by our stay at a local cottage here. On our second day, the accommodation suffered a total blackout with no power, hot water, or internet, and the host's family member crossed serious safety and personal boundaries toward my husband. This traumatic experience left us feeling extremely unsafe and completely destroyed our impression of visiting this area. We would not recommend holidaying here if this is the standard of hospitality.

Amazing place to stay.

Amazing place to stay. The cleanliness was brilliant and everything you need was there. Good location. Peaceful and very tidy outside area with plenty of parking space. Not far from Cardiff and other locations for trips out without being in the hustle and bustle of a big city. Excellent stay just wish it had been for longer. Very dog friendly which was lovely for our little one. Good local cafe and pub in walking distance. We will be back next time we travel down to Wales.

Perfect hosts, location and styling. Just a few tweaks needed with bathroom products and a few more kitchen items, tea towels, larger chopping knives etc..... However, this was the greatest place including a friendly dog and chickens......:)

The cottage is not in Llancarfen - it's in Llanbethery, a separate village deeper into the countryside. Local signage is poor and sat nav not much help at times. We were out each day, so had brought food for breakfast, no shop in Llanbethery. We ate in Cowbridge and Llancarfen (Fox & Hounds open Wed - Sun) The Heritage Coast/Ogmore not far away and worth a visit. We also went to Cardiff and enjoyed a full day there.

As this is my hometown I am somewhat biased in favour of Barry. When I visited our beautiful sandy beach at Barry Island during the recent hot weather I realised that it was mainly locals enjoying the beach and the funfair. This is such a shame as Barry has good road and bus and rail connections. There are some good cafes near the beach and fun arcades and rides to enjoy. Marco's cafe is always popular as are the fish and chip shops. There are other nearby coastal attractions that are quieter such as the Knap and Porthkerry Park so if you come here do your homework and you will never be short of places to visit.

It's very rural indeed, though quite a few people obviously use the beach and coastal path - mainly dog walkers. Sorry, we didn't use any local pubs or shops as we were visiting relatives for meals. We met Tucker and Danielle and both were very friendly and couldn't have been more helpful, though everything was fine with the property so we didn't need anything.

Since we arrived too late at Cardiff airport we needed to take cab to your place at 16:40, too late to buy any basic food for the next morning. We then had to leave to rent a car. I suggest that the host might have provided some basic things like a 1/2 dozen eggs, some butter, orange juice, and milk for the coffee. The key left for us didn’t lock the door either. Lastly perhaps in the instructions you should advise guests exactly how to turn on the shower in the two bathrooms. Especially the shower in the lower bathroom. I called and left three messages asking that someone call us to advise on the shower controls but never got a call back. That’s annoying. Who’s ever responsible for guests issues could be more attentive.

Barry Island is immense!

Barry Island is immense! if you are fans of Gavin and Stacey then I highly recommend visiting and doing the tour. It's great fun. We had a coffee and the best bacon baguette at Marco's, the sun was shining so we walked along the beach. We then walked to the train station and got a train to Cardiff Central - again I would highly recommend. A great city.
