New ZealandWe stayed five nights at Kerikeri Park Lodge, which is ideally located close to the town centre. The Old Packhouse Café is just a short walk away, along with the Friday night Street Food Market and the Saturday and Sunday markets.
We had connecting rooms, both of which were spacious, clean, and well appointed. The kitchens were fully equipped and included a good selection of teas and coffee. The large bathrooms featured showers and complimentary toiletries such as shampoo, body wash, moisturiser, and towels. Despite having many guests coming and going during our stay, the property was very quiet and peaceful.
JL, the proprietor, was extremely welcoming on arrival and made a genuine effort to learn our names. Whenever he saw us, he would stop to say hello and check how our stay was going.
Kerikeri Park Lodge is also well positioned for exploring the wider region, including Cape Reinga, Paihia, Waitangi, Russell, Whangārei, the Hokianga Harbour towns, and Waipu.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kerikeri Park Lodge.

Nearby Puketi kauri forest walk; day trip to Oponone and Waipoua forest;
Tauranga Bay peninsula half day drive; Kerikeri town centre with hanging baskets of flowers, and the stone store; Paihia and Waitangi trip with side trip to Haruru Falls if willing to take 6km hike.
We self catered except for fish & chip lunch in Paihia (down the side road not the one on the waterfront) great value.
Waipapa has no character; it is a convenient operating base avoiding need to encounter town traffic when going somewhere other than Kerikeri.

Beautiful peaceful haven, excellent facilities that also catered for my grandchildren perfectly. Plentiful healthy breakfast and lovely hosts. I would definitely like to return in the future and highly recommend.

This was a lovely place to stay.
This was a lovely place to stay. We were warmly welcomed by our hosts and everything we needed was provided. It was a real treat to stay here.
We visited the Treaty Grounds, just down the road for a cultural and historical education. We hiked to waterfalls and mangrove forests. We caught the car ferry and visited Russell on the coast.

The local bars are all very good especially the Tipsy Oyster fantastic service and the food is awesome 👌 even in the rain couldn't spoil that place catching the ferry to Russell is always good fun Pihia isn't big so walking everywhere is fine

A very beautiful, unspoilt area, with many white sandy beached with rocky headlands and few people. The local towns have everything you need. It is an area equally suited to those who want privacy and relaxation plus activities nearby such as boat trips, tours, sailing, fishing etc. for those who are looking for things to do. Plenty of restaurants providing fresh New Zealand produce to suit all tastes and budgets - great oysters! It is an area suited to those who are happy to drive themselves around and who are looking for peace, quiet and relaxation.

There was no faults I've stayed there a couple of times with my mum when she was alive and she was very fussy she use to say it was a flash motel so that says everything about the motel.
No photos taken it was a all day Kupa Haka competition from schools from Whangarei to Kaitaia competing

There is a car ferry from Opua to Okiato which makes the trip across to the Waitangi Treaty grounds very easy and accessible. There is also a passenger ferry to Paihia. The village might seem remote, and that is certainly its charm, but it is not completely cut off from the world. Also, so much history to learn about and enjoy as you walk along The Strand. Don’t forget to visit the tiny timber Christ Church with its old graves and amazing history - the oldest continuously operating church in New Zealand, and apparently once supported by a donation from Charles Darwin (yes, the famous 19th century evolutionist). The locals are very friendly and helpful, and love a chat. There are supermarkets, a post office/bookshop, beautiful craft and art shops, plenty of good places to eat, and stunning views across the bay.

We tried 5 taxi companies only one would take a booking they...
We tried 5 taxi companies only one would take a booking they wanted $100 each way for a 10 minute trip ???????
3 other taxi companies were not operating, and the last company would only do the airport run even though we offered to pay more money.
There is no Uber either
So if we went out one of us had to be the sober driver

Loved the stay.
Loved the stay. Hosts were great and accomodation was just what we needed. Small little town, however we we were not far from where our occasion was taking place on the Saturday before returning to Auckland.
