New ZealandWe loved our stay here - everything was clean, comfortable beds including the sofa bed in the tatami area. The free breakfast was a bonus before we headed out for the day. The staff were welcoming and helpful especially when we used luggage transfer service. Great location, close to the bus and walking distance to ninenzaka and kiyomizu-dera temple. Our first day here it rained and they had umbrellas we could borrow which was great as we had not brought our own. Highly recommend a stay here!

CanadaI really enjoyed my time here. Haruka and her husband made us feel welcome from the moment we booked our dates, and they even provided helpful instructions on how to get there from our previous location (Nara). Haruka also gave us some nice recommendations and tips on what to do in Kyoto during our short stay. To top it off, they even gave us a ride to our bus stop in our last night. They are wonderful people.

The room was ample in size, especially for Japan.
Hotel was in a good location. Not city centre, but 2 stops away in a quiet neighbourhood with a lot of history.
Walking distance to everything you need, supermarkets, convenience stores, restaurants.
Staff were helpful an always happy to accommodate any requests.
Beds were comfy and a good size, but only as single beds. No double bed, however, futons are available to use in the tatami room.

Beautifully appointed room. Tranquil courtyard garden. Quiet and private, right in the heart of Gion. Hyro was a most welcoming and accommodating host. Would love to come back and stay again.

It's a great locating in a quiet street. The guesthouse itself is so warm and cozy, and the ability to have a private bathroom in a traditionally laid out inn was great.

The host was so nice and kind! He spoke excellent English, and was very accommodating. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone going to Arashiyama. Great location, too!

It’s clean, quiet and has all the amenities provided. The staff were also super friendly. The location was within walking distance to a supermarket, convenient stores and restaurants. About a 20minutes walk from the main train station.
This hostel is located on the 4th floor of the building. There is an elevator that takes you straight to the doorstep of the residence.
Last but not least, it’s affordable and worth every penny.

Spacious room. Comfortable bed. Shared guesthouse but still very private. Has everything you need and then some.
Highlight of the stay was definitely hosts Linda and Lee. They were so helpful.
They recommended some brilliant spots around Kyoto for pics with less tourists. Lee gave me and another guest a free tour on the last night and gave me an album of some of his photography work to take away when I left.

Lovely boutique accommodation - clean, warm, cosy and quiet.
Very polite and attentive hosts. Niko is very helpful.
Good breakfast. Love the bagels and scones.
Great location - convenient for bus and metro transportation, eateries and shopping.

Cozy small hostel in Uji. Quietly located a little away from the major attractions.
Stay here, if you would like a little less overcrowded atmosphere.
Kyoto, Nara and can be reached in less than half an hour.

The room was spacious. It is located close to any things: Kyoto station, stores, restaurants, onsen. The owners are very knowledgeable and friendly. Morio went out of his way to pick up some bandaids for my blister, he had cold tea and snacks each day. Yoshiko cooked very well and came to talk after her chores were done. Each day’s breakfast was different. One day, I had corn chowder, the next was miso soup. Quite filling. There are only two rooms in this B and B, so it’s not a rush to the bath.
