This is a beautifully furnished home in a gorgeous setting, just minutes from Franklin, the perfect getaway for peace and solitude. It is very comfortable, in its’ elegant furnishings, climate control, and fabulous kitchen (not that it’s needed, the dining options nearby are great). Pete manages the property and lives locally, and is available if needed. Nearby Huonville has good shopping and restaurants, and Franklin offers smaller scale excellent dining. Such a peaceful, pretty part of Tasmania. A wonderful place to unwind.

Location was perfect as we were attending Cygnet Folk Festival. A chance to escape the noise and busyness of the festival and to recuperate for the next day. Beautiful old home. Large room and equally large comfortable bed. Hostess made us feel at home and always available for any questions.

When we arrived, the cottage was warm and inviting. The main room was cosy and warm even though it was quite cold outside. We loved the warm, complimentary home baked loaf of bread that was waiting for us as well as the chocolate bars and the pod coffee machine with complimentary pods. The entire cottage is in immaculate condition and all appliances, cutlery, plates, etc seem like new. The main bedroom is very spacious and the bed is super comfortable. The sofa bed is also really comfortable. The shower is great as well. We really loved staying here and enjoyed the rural outlook as well as watching a kookaburra feeding not far from the cottage in the morning before we left.

Franklin is a cosy little place with warm and inviting people. You are able to travel to a number of places in a short distance. The food at the cafe - cinnamon and cherry was outstanding. Well worth the drive just for that.

There was an event at the beautiful Palais Theatre that I...

There was an event at the beautiful Palais Theatre that I attended and enjoyed very much. It looks like the community members attend many fun events at the Palais. On the beautiful river we watched a rowing regatta for a while which was fun, and the Rowing Club was open and serving food and drinks. We ate at a couple of places, one was a cafe on the main road where the Salmon Mornay pie, made on site, was absolutely delicious. Dinner at the little restaurant which serves Thai and Australian food was also very yummy. Great service at both of these places. A drive into Hartz Mtns National Park was relaxing, and a couple of short walks to see a beautiful flowing stream and a waterfall were peaceful and rejuvenating. Franklin is not far from Hobart when you've got a car and there are so many more places here in the Huon that you can enjoy.
