Great resort in the heart of Rutherglen. Very spacious room with a large bed. Our room had a view of the vineyard which was great. We sat on the patio outside the room each night enjoying a glass wine and watching the world go by - very relaxing. The restaurant on site was good value and had lovely meals and of course excellent wine selection - especially the port. The staff were very friendly and provided us with some great tips on what to do and where to go in the area. We also had a wine tasting session in the cellar door which was great - came away with a few bottles to take home. We also loved the on site pool which was great on a hot day.

As I had previously stayed here, I knew what to expect, and was happy with my choice. The house was clean and well-appointed, with two bedrooms, a good A/C system, and all of the appliances one would want for an extended stay... my stay was only overnight. The kitchen was stocked with the necessaries to prepare a continental breakfast, a bit more like an "AirBnB" type property than a traditional B&B, where a full breakfast is the norm. However, the loaf of bread, juice, the coffee and tea fixings, a couple of choices of jam and a fresh bottle of full cream milk and large new container of butter were exactly what I was hoping for (along with the Vegemite!).

The eateries are great.

The eateries are great. Highly recommend Pickers Cafe for breakfast (zucchini and corn fritter stacks with avocado is my choice). Tulleries at De Bortelli is my favourite - my 3rd time back there in 18 months (and we live 1.5 hours away). Grace is also a great place to lunch. The township has a lovely vibe. Where we stayed was an easy walk to the main street. The park with the war memorial is worth a look. Easy access to public toilets. The IGA liqour has a great range of local wines. Cafe Mechanica has a great motorcycle museum and cafe

We stayed en route between Sydney and Ballarat for one night...

We stayed en route between Sydney and Ballarat for one night. It looks a very pretty town with a fab gastronomy pub The Vic and cellar doors nearby which we didn’t have the chance to visit. It was a good place to stop with our dog as our accommodation, Must Love Dogs and our dinner location in the beer garden of the vic were both super dog friendly.

Rutherglen is an interesting small town in the north east of Victoria and vineyard country. Many old and well maintained houses and commercial buildings. A pleasant main street with interesting shops and good coffee. A walking scale town and a great stop-over between Canberra and Melbourne, especially if you are not in a hurry and like to drive off the main roads.

Rutherglen is a small country town surrounded by many wineries. There are three hotels which offer food and drink, plus a couple of restaurants & cafes. The folk are friendly and provide that good old country hospitality.

Great food and coffee (lunch) at Caffeine Machine on the main street of Rutherglen, lovely little town with excellent wineries nearby. We had a fantastic evening meal at the Victoria Hotel which had recently been renovated and was more like a Five Star Restaurant than a run of the mill country pub, excellent food and wines there with very attentive staff. We didn't spend long enough in Rutherglen and looking to revisit in the near future and spend at least a long weekend.

We had a wonderful stay at The Victoria Hotel Rutherglen! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The room was beautifully presented with everything we needed for a relaxing night. We especially loved the attention to detail throughout the property, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The location is perfect for exploring the area, and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. Highly recommended!
