Lovely quiet and comfortable room with all the basics. Easy to check in and out. Property owners quick to respond via text to our questions before and during stay. They provided a complimentary bottle of chardonnay for our anniversary which was nice.

Apart from the great accommodation and adequate breakfast provisions the manager was amazing. I accidently did some significant damage (broken window) and she was so understanding. We agreed a $ for compensation and everyone was happy :-)

Beautifully renovated rooms, comfortable beds, security gates,and accommodated for my request of a ground floor room, very close the venue we needed to attend. Would definitely stay here again. No noise from Hotel next door.

Such a beautiful quaint town.

Such a beautiful quaint town. Plenty to see in Sassafras and in neighbouring suburbs like Olinda. The bakery was impressive, food was amazing. Cloudhill, a 5 acres of garden and nursery 7 min drive away was majestic and worth a visit. Olinda has a great bottle shop with plenty of craft beers and a fabulous yarn store.

Loved the town, amazing cafe bakery right around the corner!! Loved the walking trails in the forest, lakes and the drive everywhere was through tropical forest and huge trees!!! Such beautiful side of Melbourne!!

Cosy cabin, story book feel.

Cosy cabin, story book feel. Beautifully styled with antiques, fireplace and floor heating was lovely. Impeccably clean. Serene place to escape and relax. Host Pete was super friendly as was Beni his dog. Will be back soon.

Liked the Sassafras high street, we ate dinner at House of Fras which served a real decent steak on Steak Night (though another dish spaggetini was a little overdone). Marples Tea Room served hot bready scones, though expensive at $17.50 for 2 scones. Proprietor however does not follow her own opening hours, and exhibited aggressive behaviour towards us (long story but she ended up throwing our takeaway packaging at people she mistook for us) The chicken parmigiana at the Pig & Whistle in the next town of Olinda was most delightful (big portion and tasty)

There wasn't anything we didn't like about Sassafras, the drives and walks around the area were absolutely amazing. We visited Mont De Lancey Historic Homestead, Dandenong Ranges Botanic Garden, Chelsea Australian Garden at Olinda, Kokoda Track, Olinda Falls, Sherbrooke Falls, Stayed at Belle Le Vie French style B&B, pampered ourselves at Balance Mountain Day Spa Olinda, ate at Pig & Whistle Tavern and Mad Raven Hot Stone Pizza. My husband and I love nature and the area was so abundant with fresh air wonderful bird life, amazing trees, quaint small shopping districts and good foodie places to eat at.

There are many beautiful walks to take in the area.

There are many beautiful walks to take in the area. The birds and greenery are the real bonus so if you are looking for a tranquil getaway, Sassafras is perfect location. You really need transport to the Main Street in Sassafras, Olinda and Mt Dandenong where there are plenty of cafes, gift shops and restaurants to enjoy.

Location is one of the best if you want to explore the Dandenong range, there is an excellent bakehouse only 1 km away, plus all the businesses from Sassafras in a short walk distance. Nature surrounds the house completely, and you feel like waking up in an enchanted forest, with plenty of natural light and birds whistling outside. Decoration and equipment at the house are fantastic, not a single detail is spared!

The little cottage we stayed in was awesome. In a beautiful spot just outside Sassafras. Had a wonderful spa tub and good wifi. Also really enjoyed the back verandah and small garden. Loved that the place was set up and pre-warmed for our arrival. We felt very welcome.

The host is wonderful and thoughtful. Location is walking distance to Sassafras which is a gorgeous little village with lovely shops and great places to eat. Simply Sassafras has excellent WiFi and Netflix as added bonus.
