I loved how beautiful and thoughtful every detail was - from the pre-visit emails to check on our preferences, to the personalised touches including the names of myself and my partner, to the extra care in providing fresh milk on our doorstep every morning. The space was gorgeous, and the staff made an effort to warn us of events taking place the nights of our stay, and took extra care to move us to a room that was further away from the main house to ensure privacy and quiet. Also loved the complimentary breakfast - which goes beyond a continental breakfast and included a full English or even a benedict. My partner even borrowed some of their complimentary wellies on a day that we went for a long walk (which were needed in November in the Cotswolds mind you!) so that was an amazing touch.

Bibury itself - in the season - is completely over-run with...

Bibury itself - in the season - is completely over-run with tourists (like you). So, the challenge is to find areas to explore that are not reached by most of the other tourists. This is possible in and around Bibury, especially if you're happy climbing some steepish hills. When you venture into the tourist centre of Bibury, maybe look for Cafe Gallery (a deceptively large tea toom built into the hillside) but you may wish to steer clear of the (rather commercialised and heavily populated) Swan Inn and nearby Trout Farm. The byways leading around Bibury, through rolling countryside, offer great views. If you're searching for inspiration for such walks, take the track leading to Bibury Cricket Club and then explore the many public footpaths that spring off it. On the way back, it may be worth calling at The Catherine Wheel - a friendly pub with good "pub grub".

A very pretty village spoiled by visitors.

A very pretty village spoiled by visitors. In the season, the village is overwhelmed by hoardes of people, cars, minivans and coaches. Yes it is pretty but its idyllic, quaint charm is ruined by its success. I suggest, stop and take a few pictures then drive on. There are just as nice villages in the surrounding area.

Bibury is a charming village with houses built from honey...

Bibury is a charming village with houses built from honey coloured stone that is characteristic of that part of the Cotswolds. Many cottages have roses around the doors that make them particularly attractive. The river that runs through the village is clean and is home to numerous wild foul Including Swans and Ducks.

Bibury is a wonderful village.

Bibury is a wonderful village. Just so pretty and easy to walk around. We had a roast in the Swan Hotel and a lovely meal in the Catherine wheel, who were very welcoming. There is also a cafe with a gift shop. All very picturesque.

Bibury is a picture perfect Cotswold town/village. This does come at a cost - tourists, yes I know I was one. Bibury is always busy but staying in the 'village' has the advantage of selecting your wanderings to match lower footfall. As a location within the wider geographical area it is excellent. Easy travelling to Burford, Cirencester, Stow, Chipping Campden and the beautiful countryside between these settlements. We enjoyed a 4 mile walk around the Ampney's,(4 miles south of Bibury) beautiful, even in January.

Bibury is undoubtedly one of the most picturesque villages...

Bibury is undoubtedly one of the most picturesque villages in the Cotswolds. With stunning rambling cottages and lovely circular walks, it offers an unparalleled taste of the beauty of the Cotswolds. Bibury is a bit touristy, but worth a visit especially in the off season.

The staff were very friendly, welcoming us with open arms. Dinner and breakfast was delicious. The bedroom was spotless, warm and cosy! The staff arranged petals in the shape of a heart for our anniversary/Valentine’s Day stay over. One of the nicest things anyone has ever done for us! Thank you Hugh!! We enjoyed visiting the famous Arlington Row, walks along the river and village and the trout farm. We were lucky to find a car parking spot next to the hotel.

We stayed as we were in the area for a wedding, the room was very clean and spacious, lovely views, Bibury is a nice village in the Cotswolds with lots of routes to plan a countryside walk around. Breakfast was lovely with a choice of salmon/full English/banana bread and pastries/juices/coffees. Host was friendly and helpful. Would recommend!

Great cottage ideally situated in the picturesque village of Bibury (at a comfortable walking distance from the touristic centre). The cottage is surrounded by a lovely garden and gives onto the countryside. It is very comfortable and furnished with taste. Good equipment and facilities. The landlady is charming.

An amazing little cottage to stay in and right in Bibury, the most lovely country village. The owners where so very friendly and helpfull with tips on where to go to visitt, eat, shop etc. We definitely want to go back again and stay here.
