The manager went out of his way to help us. We arrived late and missed supper but were allowed to eat our sandwiches in the bar with a glass of wine. The next day we had to leave early for an appointment and were able to eat a quick early lunch. The hotel was a charming old building. The beds were comfortable, bathroom clean, towels provided. The town of Biggar is delightful with alleys running between the buildings up the hill. All staff very friendly and helpful and. We wish we had an excuse to come back.

That it was just off the High street. Far enough for no noise, close enough for a quick dash to the shops.

Everything from the time we stepped into the house to the end of our stay. The house was cozy, clean, well equipped, the owner very thoughtful and kind. The whole town is cute and very welcoming. Easy parking, safe, close to atores.

Their bar is a highlight, boasting an impressive range of alcohols. One drink, in particular, infused with a rich flower flavor, was a revelation-it not only tasted exceptional but also uplifted my spirits.

A picturesque Scottish town with nice cafes and a couple of hotels that is a good place for a visit. Close to Edinburgh and easy to get to from M74. The Kirkstyle and Elphinstone hotels are both great places to stay. Elphinstone does great food, as does The Crown Inn.

Lovely town, helpful people, good restaurants and ice cream shop. It was a great location to drive to the Carmichael estates and visit the grounds and the 5 star restaurant called the Hideaway. We visited a very lovely town, Peebles and from there we highly recommend a drive to Traquair. Wow, the oldest continuously inhabited residence in all of Scotland with a story well presented. Also a tasty brewery and a great little lunch cafe with homemade specialties.

We were travelling from Essex to Oban and I was looking for a dog friendly accommodation near food and drink in the Scottish Borders. The Elphinstone Arms ticked all these boxes and was 13 miles off the A74. Looking at the advertised local activities there seems to be a strong local community here.

We had a very nice time in B and B nr 4 . The bed slept very well. The bathroom was big and only for us. Tip: if you have time go to the puppet theater. It is beautiful just as the Museum. And for a nice dinner we recommend The Crown.

A lovely town surrounded by beautiful countryside - a bit like stepping back in time - One gets a feeling little has changed over the years - Some wonderful surprises however as there is a new cafe on the high street - fabulous food and ambience - delicious coffee - Lack of a proper sign would have you walk by if you're not paying attention! An exceptional bookshop and some wonderful craft shops are worth checking out - including a very interesting gallery/ clothes shop full of colourful murals and state of the art crafts and cards. A good mix of old and new!

Lovely wee town, plenty places to eat, have coffee or a drink and we went a lovely walk down past the pharmacy and past the schools, takes you down past the golf course to a little boating pond you can walk around and come back the other side of the golf course. Recommended to us by the guy in the Elphenstone Hotel.

The hotel is well located in the middle of Biggar, which was great for weddings (Cornhill Castle). Clearly having work done to upgrade rooms. If you are looking for a no frills place to sleep, then this is a cheap option to consider.
