Upon arrival, we were checked in by Fiona who was very welcoming, efficient and kindly changed our room to one which was more easily accessible to my husband who had hurt his back falling on the ice. She couldn't have been more helpful. All the staff were smiling. We had lunch in the restaurant which was delicious. Very large comfortable room.

FAQs about hotels in Birmingham

First-class Shopping, Culture and Sports

The UK's 2nd largest city, Birmingham is one of its top cultural centers. Well-known for its M6 Spaghetti Junction interchange, it's also a surprisingly green city with lots of open spaces.

Most city center hotels in Birmingham are near New Street Station. To the east is the futuristic architecture of the new Bull Ring shopping center, and behind that is Digbeth Bus Station. To the west is Victoria Square, home of the town hall and a German Christmas Market.

The Mailbox is one of the newest additions to the Birmingham shopping scene, and behind it is one of the canals converging on the Gas Street Basin. By one canal are the ICC (International Convention Center) and the NIA (National Indoor Arena), both venues that host major events.

Just across the street is Brindleyplace, a canal-front complex of restaurants, bars and hotels near Broad Street – the main nightlife area. It is popular with students at nearby Birmingham University, whose clock tower is modeled on the one in Siena. Just south in Bournville is Cadbury World, and there are several hotels on Hagley Road to the north, which are available on Booking.com.

The city is also known for sports – Aston Villa and Birmingham City are the top soccer clubs, while Edgbaston Cricket Ground hosts international matches. Other Birmingham attractions include Hockley’s Jewellery Quarter and the NEC arena by Birmingham International Airport.

What Guests Said About Birmingham:

Lovely spacious open feel to the city centre.

Lovely spacious open feel to the city centre. Amazing reflections from the many glass clad buildings, mixed with some great historical architecture. Buses and trams, but very few cars and no lorries. Brindley Place has a buzzing vibe with its many restaurants. The Library building is stunning inside and out whilst offering great views from its upper floors and a place of quiet calm in the high level gardens. Totally blown away all my former perceptions of the city.

we didnt relise there was so many amazing restaurants and bars around the area . there was a lot of great buildings and kept coming across new things like an art exhibition under a via duct , ect . loved the walk along the canal wasnt there long enough to see much else as went just for weekend and to see all the Black Sabbath and Ozzy things . Sea life centre was good but expensive £49.50 for 2 adults

It's easy to get around Birmingham.

It's easy to get around Birmingham. We had a guide book with 20 different walks around the centre and outskirts. We liked the museums in the jewellery quarter, the Art Gallery, the Library and the well documented history of the places we visited. The architecture is very varied and interesting. We weren't convinced that the new blended well with the old but loved the old red brick buildings, the School of Art, the magistrates courts and the former manufacturing sites in the Jewellery Quarter. The canal walks are good and Gas Street Basin is a delight.

I came to capture some of the Brutalist buildings spread around the city and got some great ones! The city centre has a moody feel like something is about to happen, but I didn't see any trouble to be fair. I liked my trip to Birmingham. But... Birmingham is one of the noisiest places I've ever been to and on a night its like a city that doesn't sleep. Its peak summer now so I had the windows open and the noise levels outside never stopped. I can sleep through noise ok, but for anyone who cannot I would probably just avoid Birmingham completely 😶

Lovely place to visit.

Lovely place to visit. They have too many homeless people in the town centre a lot sleeping rough, and begging. As a tourist I want to feel safe when I walk back to the Hotel which was central. Oh and they need to do more about the smell of urine which is not pleasant when you’re walking past shop corners under bridges etc. Walking along the canal front was lovely and some lovely places to eat and some nice places to stay.

A vibrant city. Beautiful strolls around the canals. Lots of shopping, good restaurants and bars. Definitely a must is Piccolino Restaurant. Do not miss visiting Grand Central too and the area around the Bullring. Victoria Square is also beautiful. The library is also worth a visit.

The proximity to the NEC and the local shops is brilliant and being able to go to the city centre from the NEC station in such little time makes it a far more suitable and affordable place to stay for an event than anywhere in the city centre. It's like a home from home. The bus stop directly outside made going to and from all Birmingham center Coventry centre and the NEC so much easier and cheaper I saved a fortune not spending on fuel and parking

One night stay on a Saturday night. Not the hotels fault but other guests returning to their rooms at 4am were very noisy and kept me awake Would have been nice to have usb chargers in the rooms sockets. Most hotels do Cleaners had vacuum cables stretched across floor five corridor. I tripped over this when leaving Ok hotel, comfortable, reasonable value for Birmingham city centre
