the bed was the best on our trip, pleasantly soft but still supportive, had a very sociable Boston Terrier.

This hotel exceeded my expectations! For its price it was an amazing experience. I got an amazing room with a large amount of space and the location is fantastic. With there being a beach just a 5 minute walk away and bus stations right a 2 minute walk away, I got to enjoy my visit to Newcastle with little to no hassle.

The staff were really friendly and welcoming and even offered us a complementary drink in the pub downstairs. The room was great value for money - it was generally clean and comfy with everything you need for an overnight stay. There was ample parking and our car could be seen from our room which was reassuring. Checking in and out was very easy. Great place to stay if you're just looking for somewhere clean and comfy to sleep. We didn't use the kitchenette but it was nice that there was one available to make breakfast if needed.

Cullercoats is a pretty seaside town, between Whitley Bay and Tynemouth, both of which are within easy walking distance. Glorious clean sandy beaches, lots of independent coffee shops and cafes, perfect for a family beach holiday but the bright lights and shopping malls of Newcastle only 25 minutes away on the Metro if you want them.

A picturesque harbour and sandy bathing beach.

A picturesque harbour and sandy bathing beach. Best for walking because you have the beaches and friendliness of Tynemouth just to the south, and now, revitalised, Whitely Bay (and a hive of activity) to the north.

Lovely coastal spot to mooch around.

Lovely coastal spot to mooch around. Good coffee shops around the corner. Co-op not too faraway and the convenience shop across the road. Lovely walks up and down the coast. Being December dogs were allowed on the beaches, not sure if that is the same all year round.

Huge, clean beach which was busy all day with families, surfers, dog walkers, swimmers - always something fun to watch. Just around the corner is a cool craft bakery with good coffee and a bit further on is the cult breakfast place Pablo Eggs-go-bao. There is a terrific micro-pub in Whitley Bay station less than 10 minutes walk away.

Lovely sand beach on the Bay, where we swam.

Lovely sand beach on the Bay, where we swam. Cafes, pubs, restaurants all nearby. You can walk along the various beach front paths - either north to Whitley Bay or south to Tynemouth. There's also a cycle route along this coast. We ate at The Queens Head and at The Salt House - both very good. As was the fish&chip shop

Coastline is fabulous ,beaches beautiful.

Coastline is fabulous ,beaches beautiful. Cullercoats is a good central point with towns easily accessible by bus and Metro. Flat walking for miles along the front, lots of seating on the way. Cullercoats has a Co-op and several really nice coffee shops ,a pub and a W.M. Club. The local chippie -Billy's was awful, really bad. A small resort joined up to Tynemouth and Whitley Bay but with a lot of. character.
