Amazing beautiful 200 years old house with big gardens on 4 hectare land. The photos on the websites are just as beautiful as the reality. The host, Harry and Nicola have been taking care of the house very well, thinking of every details that the guest need during their stay. On top of all that, the services from the host is really excellent. When we arrived late at night, Nicola served a dinner with 2 glasses of wine for the two of us. It was just a very delicious dinner that we ever had. They dedicated their life to give the best to their guests. This is just the right and amazing place to stay, you will have a mesmerized memory by staying on this property.

The house is large, comfortable, and well-appointed. We found it well located to many of the sites we planned to visit and especially enjoyed the quiet. The kitchen had ample items to accommodate cooking and serving. It was very convenient being right next to a small grocery store too. I would have liked to use the BBQ but was put off by the weather. I'd be glad to return and explore the area further.

Carly and the team were really accommodating and friendly . They gave our group of nine a great welcome. The terrace was an ideal place to take an evening drink in the sunshine with a stunning view over the valley and mountain. There was a quirky open mic night to entertain us The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable . We were provided with a delicious very early breakfast, all cooked freshly to order, which gave us a great start to our long days walking.. On our return, despite us being a bit late and the Roadhouse having had an extremely busy day, we were greeted with lovely staff and the chef preparing delicious food to order for us. This is a quirky place, not luxurious but full of character and we loved it. A shout out to everyone who works there with Carly

the accommodation is not in the countryside as such but rather in a field on the edge of a housing estate with no facilities. Nothing is really walkable like a pub or shops. Gilwern itself not very inviting but on the plus side the fabulous Crickhowell is only 10 minutes away by car

There was nothing we disliked, we had a lovely welcome by our hosts who looked after us very well indeed. They made us feel part of the family and the house was so beautiful, very homely. Also very well situated close to both Crickhowell & Abergavenny. Everything was perfect and will definitely return

The Beauford Arms serves a great pub dinner and variety of drinks though booking is advisable. The Red Indigo in Crickhowell serves one on the best curries I have had in a long time. Again, booking advisable.

A pleasant town on the edge of the Black Mountains.

A pleasant town on the edge of the Black Mountains. Walk up to the church and churchyard at the head of the lane. There are fine views all the way round, and the gravestones comprise a history of the district and this distinctive part of Wales.

Peaceful, beautiful location, easy access to wonderful walking in the Black Mountains and the Beacons. Very easy walking along the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal. Good shopping opportunities in Abergavenny and Crickhowell. Easy access to unique deep mine museum at Big Pit Blaenafon and first rate road link to further destinations in West Wales.

Gilwern is a good spot for the Brecon Beacons and associated nature. A small village with a garage and small shop. Some pubs nearby within walking distance, but most only serve food Thursday to Sunday. But Abergavenny nearby has plenty of choice.
