Lovely little town with a great promenade.

Lovely little town with a great promenade. Ate one night at the Commodore Inn which provided lovely food. A nice touch was that the chef came round to make sure everyone had enjoyed their meal. Ideal location for myself and my husband, who are retired, and loved the marsh and the bird life, but perhaps not so much for young families as there is no beach or access to the sea.

I really like Grange over Sands and think the South Cumbria...

I really like Grange over Sands and think the South Cumbria coast is a well kept secret. There are lovely views over the estuary and someone had the foresight to put windows in the wall of the railway station so you can see the view. The trainline is great for access to other parts of the coast and good value. I didn't spend much time in Grange itself as I was on a walking holiday but other places in the area look good to visit - eg Ulverston, Cark, Cartmel, Holker Hall.

Grange-over-Sands is a lovely, scenic place with beautiful views across the bay. The weather was kind, the locals and visitors were friendly, and we found a lovely little inn where we enjoyed a drink or two.

Grange has a Edwardian feeling going on.

Grange has a Edwardian feeling going on. It has a long promenade with views of Morcambe Bay. The Lido which was built in thr early 1900's became delapidated and closed. has recently been restored.

It is a busy small town, with several coffee shops and cafes...

It is a busy small town, with several coffee shops and cafes. The lake has gone downhill lately, with the majority of ducks gone and mainly Bar-Headed geese left. The lake area looked neglected. The promenade was nice, and the volunteer gardeners do a wonderful job as the plants looked great (we were there in mid June). Not many shops in Grange, could go with a few more really, but a large Budgens is being built so that should help. The town is very hilly, which needs to be considered if someone has poor mobility. A lot of the roads are tricky to manoeuvre due to high volumes of traffic.

The property is very dog friendly and you are able to take your dog with you when eating a meal. Not the main restaurant, but a separate room near the bar. The bedroom was pleasant giving us a lovely view of Morecambe bay. We ate the bar food which was very good and plentiful. The hotel is also only about 10mins away from the railway station, which has regular trains.

Loved the comfy bed and we had breakfast served in the room with lots of choice. Perfect poached eggs Benedict, beans on toast and fruit was all good. Location was perfect for us with pubs/restaurants/take outs near by. Good communication from hotel before arriving with recommendations to places to eat and taxi numbers.

Very spacious room with a lovely bath in the actual bedroom. The hotel has been refurbished so carpets and public rooms have a fresh feel. Echarger very handy and you are just a short walk to the prom and gardens. Cafes nearby offer better value eating options. Much appreciated fan in the room.
