This was a brilliant, quirky place to stay. The hosts were very friendly and helpful, the location was brilliant-just off the town square. The carriage bed was comfortable, The garden was beautiful, everything was clean and there was a surprisingly functional kitchen for the size. We loved that a lot of the original features of the train were preserved, and we learned some very interesting history from one of the hosts. It was very easy to get the keys, and the hosts communicated with us before and throughout our stay. There is only one parking space, which does have an electric charger, but there is free parking nearby in the black swan, and paid parking in the Cleveland way carpark, which also has electric chargers. Helmsley is great, there is so much to do

A small village on the edge of the Howardian Hills - an area of outstanding beauty often overlooked by people visiting North Yorkshire. The are limited facilities in the village - but the towns of Helmsley and Malton are not far away. It's a quintessential English village in rural North Yorkshire - originally part of the Worsley family estate. It's very pretty, with a church, a little shop and village green, as well as the hotel. It also boosts a Michelin-starred restaurant, Myse.

Quaint Yorkshire village with a nice church.

Quaint Yorkshire village with a nice church. Hall available to book as long as you are a group of 15 as now in private ownership. Food at the Worsley Arms is great. Busy tractor and lorry route from 4am.

My wife and spent two nights at this charming hotel. The breakfasts were great with plenty of choice as were the evening meals. The room was clean and comfortable although a 10.5 tog Duver PLUS a heavy overthrow was too much for us at this time of year, so we had to remove the Duvet and just use the duvet cover. Perfect. The staff were friendly and courteous and treated us with respect, The garden is a lovely place to be on a sunny evening too! One to recommend.

Although we didn’t venture into Hovingham itself the pub has the history of cricket in the village depicted by pictures and a knowledgeable landlord if you ask. We loved the calm relaxed atmosphere of the pub and its beautiful surroundings. All the staff are really friendly and there’s plenty of snug areas other than the bar in which too relax. Definitely recommend this place.

I liked the Worsley Arms immensely it was full of character and local flavour. The bar was so snug and friendly. Breakfast individually cooked and served and delicious. My room was all I needed for a weekend stopover to do a local art workshop. I would happily stay there again for the friendliness and helpfulness of Tony and Sally running the show seemingly effortlessly. Thank you for a great wee stay.

I've stayed before at the Worsley Arms Hotel and I've went back again. The dinner is superb. I also had business guests over for dinner and they too had an excellent meal. The staff are so attentive and really look after you. The hotel is quite old, but it's what I love about it. Another relaxing nights stay, and I will be going back again at some point.

A great location in the heart of the lovely village of Hovingham. Quite quirky, but authentic - it still feels like an old coaching inn. Staff were exceptional - very helpful, friendly and welcoming. Felt very comfortable - almost homely.
