Centrally located on the high street, close to all the facilities. Easy check-in through the ground floor restaurant - we ate here and good value and excellent food. We were on the upper floor, but the helpful staff carries the luggage, which was appreciated. Pleasant views from the window, to the south across the bay. Room was clean and the bed comfy. Despite being on the top floor there was good pressure in the shower. Overall, an excellent stay.

Beautifully situated hotel, with a gorgeous sea view. Our room was spacious and comfortable, the perfect size for travelling with a dog. The staff were very friendly and informative about the area. Breakfast was amazing, both continental and cooked offered many choices. The honesty bar worked great and was well stocked. Lovely hotel with a short walk into the centre of Barmouth and its beaches.

Location and rooms were delightful but sadly let down by...

Location and rooms were delightful but sadly let down by slow evening service and incompetent staff. We were asked by the manager as we checked our bill and got the additional items removed that we had not had, if everything was ok. At that stage we said yes, because we needed to talk it through as we’ were both very disappointed by the evening service, particularly as it was a special occasion. However the person on reception as we checked out on Saturday morning was very sympathetic and understanding when we explained what had happened during our first evening. No reduction to our bill was offered and the hotel is fairly expensive with regard to accommodation, and therefore we would have expected the level of service to have been higher.

The area is great for walking and the scenery is...

The area is great for walking and the scenery is breathtaking. Easy access to Barmouth, Fairbourne and Dolgellau on foot from penmaenpool as well as a Fantastic walks via the Toll Bridge to the opposite side of the estuary. Great pub on the estuary. Didn't use the car all weekend. Been to this area a few times and planning to return soon.

There are no shops, just a nice hotel/pub.

There are no shops, just a nice hotel/pub. There is a free carpark with toilets. There is a beautiful walk to Barmouth, about 6 miles and then you can get the bus back to the other side of the toll bridge. Whilst we there the gate for people was left open after the bridge closed to traffic but maybe check that as it is subject to the 'honesty' toll. There weren't many birds around the estuary (April).

This is a tiny place but full of character with toll bridge...

This is a tiny place but full of character with toll bridge and tidal river with lots of wildlife to spot. It is the perfect place to go on walks from and though we didn’t many people follow the cycle track.
