Quiet comfortable rooms. The meal was particularly good. Lots of nice touches such as a perfect yolk in scotch egg , also a few middle eastern items in a local produce menu.

Liked the pub garden, the staff were very good.

Liked the pub garden, the staff were very good. Disliked the food, very poor breakfast and evening meal. No overhead light in the bedroom so very dark in the evening. Hotel closed up at about 10 on a Saturday evening.

A rather special village nestled in verdant downland, though...

A rather special village nestled in verdant downland, though very much an estate-owned vicinity geared to country sports. Beautiful countryside for walking or running, albeit that one of the nearby paths through a bullock field has to be negotiated with prudence. The church is of considerable interest and picturesqueness.
