I never realised trawsfynydd was steeped in as much history as I was finding out during our stay. Visit the dam the views are breathtaking and the sun set topped it off. It’s not far to visit Porthmadog, criccieth, Harlech, Bala, Blaenau Ffestiniog .

Comfortable stay with pretty much everything you need, it even provides board games for kids. Beds are comfortable, and it has all the kitchen equipment required. Very nice and quiet environment, including a small play area nearby. Took us a while to find the lodge, maybe a more detailed directions will be helpful especially for late arrival in the dark (Having said that, we were pre-warned that it's going to be dark). We stayed during a very hot summer week, a thinner blanket would be good as compared to a thick winter duvet. Wifi connections hit and miss which is understandable due to the remote location.

Nice quiet area but may be different during school holidays.

Nice quiet area but may be different during school holidays. Didn't use the cafe area so cannot comment on that. Good base for touring the area but still quite a drive to Snowdon. Not so good for local pubs
