Comparing to other locations, thekkady is less crowded.
Comparing to other locations, thekkady is less crowded. So we can peacefully go to places and drive cars on roads. But the weather is not very cool like ooty or kodaikanal. But it is ok during nights. Comparatively room rents are also cheaper. Boating and elephant safari are worthy to try. Thekkady is recommended for family travellers who are on a tight budget or those who do not want to go to crowded places. But it is not a place we will like to go again and again.

Thekaddy is definitely worth the effort.
Thekaddy is definitely worth the effort. The Periyar Tiger Reserve - particularly the 1 Night Tiger Trail - is a gem. Incredible to walk through the forest and spot elephants, Gaur (bison), monkeys and birds. And glorious trees. Lovely spots to eat in the town too - Periyar Tiger Cafe and Grandmas cafe stood out.

Elephant ride was amazing and soul touching.
Visit to spice gardens was an enriching experience.
Jeep Safari, however was very disappointing.
After sustaining to the heavy bumpy rides for almost 1.5 hours, you don't spot any animals, Not even deer or elephants.
They charge a big money for these bone dissolving rides but what you get is dust and back pains. Not worth the price at all.

Very bad experience of my whole 9 days trip to Kerala. The electricity connection was very poor and the bathroom lock was broken . The reception desk was empty most of the time , very poor administration .

PERIYAR TIGER RESERVE TREKKING IS VERY MUCH DIFFICULTY. MUDDED NARROW PATHS FILLED WITH BITING INSECTS MADE THE TREKKING MISERABLE. THEY RECOVERED ONE PERSONS ENTRANCE FEES ILLEGALLY TO MAKE IT TO A MINIMUM NUMBER. NO ANIMALS OR BIRDS SEEN INSTEAD ONLY BLOOD SUCKING ANTS.

I recently stayed at Hills vibe Thekkady and had an absolutely fantastic experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff were warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. Check-in was smooth and efficient.
The bed was very comfortable, and the view from the hotel was a pleasant.
One of the highlights was the breakfast. Everything exceeded my expectations.
The hotel’s location is ideal – close to elephant junction

This place captured the essence of the jungle and special mention to all the staff who were there, they make you feel at home and this could be the best place to stay not just in thekkaady, but in India.

The best part was the host. He made every issue sorted and was always at your service. He went out of his way to help and make us comfortable. Amazing place and very near to everything in thekkady. Comes with a parking but a little away from the cityscape. Overall excellent stay.
