Zafferana Etnea is a good and nice place , people friendly > but we notice lot of garbage scatter around but not only in Zaferrana which is a pity. But Sicily is a very nice Island and it has many to offer !

Breakfast is served in an authentic traditional dining room, where you can admire a wood-fired oven once used for baking, cooking, and heating. The breakfast itself was truly fresh — warm bread and pastries, amazing olive oil made by the host, mozzarella, about seven different kinds of honey, and excellent coffee with no limits. I also really appreciated the very accommodating self check-in late after midnight. Right in front of the accommodation begins the access road to Mount Etna. Unfortunately, we didn’t have good weather — heavy fog and rain made it unsafe to continue to the summit — so we turned back. But we’ll definitely return another time and stay at the same place again.

This is a nice little town on the slopes of Etna and is especially convenient for visiting the Volcano. It is also close to the eastern coast of Sicily and its beaches whilst various tourist attractions are nearby. A car is almost essential though as public transport from the town is only by bus.

Bad: - Beds were very uncomfortable. - Toilet creaked and wobbled when you sat down. - Small fridge was musty and never really worked. - walls were thin, you could hear people talking clearly - food was ok but not astounding Good: -Dinning room/ breakfast area was gorgeous, I would return for the views while eating meals. - View from shared balcony was amazing. - Blinds were so impressive they could make a supernova go unnoticed. - great parking

The area is very interesting, with quite a lot to discover.

The area is very interesting, with quite a lot to discover. The best way is getting a tour to understand the volcano and the whole area, how do they live and profit from the volcano. We visited also Parco Avventura Etna, fabolous fun for a family!

Perfect location to visit Etna, as it's in the middle...

Perfect location to visit Etna, as it's in the middle between the south side and the north side of the mountain. Small town but has all necessary shops, excellent restaurants and a beach (we didn't visit the beach as we were there for Mount Etna). Easy to drive anywhere and explore the area from there.

Breakfast is incredible good. Hosting family is so helpful and generous. Close by are many restaurants and bakeries so you will find many places for trying local food and drinks. The city of Zafferana Etnea is perfect for day trips on the east coast of Sicily, as it is located in the middle between Etna (visitor's centre Etna sud is reached within half an hour by car) and the sea (e.g. Taormina can be reached within half an hour as well).

Gianfranco is very kind and helpful .Was willing to help with everything we needed !! He also gave us some coupons for free lunch at the cafe at 2500 m at the volcano. The animals were so friendly and cuddling. The house is located next to Zafferana Etnea village . From the garden you can see the volcano 🌋 The place was clean and in good order . The breakfast was yummy 😋
