Several new improvements in Balclutha since I was there 6 years ago. An exceptional Huge new Information Center overlooking the bridge and river. With very helpful staff. A new Woolworth's supermarket as well.

Balclutha is a small rural country town, there all the facilities you need, plenty of places to eat out and shops etc. It is not a city with loads of night life. Dunedin is about an hour away It's a good base to explore the Catlins and the south of the South Island of NZ. The beach at Kaka point is only 20 minutes away there is a street food caravan serves excellent fish and chips. The drive from Balclutha to Cromwell, Queens Town, Wanaka, Milford sound and Lake Takapo are breath taking.

The new information centre and war memorial was fabulous.
The new information centre and war memorial was fabulous. The staff were ultra helpful and friendly and proved to be a real asset to the town. The views are fabulous around the town and I would recommend staying here to anyone.

Rooms well appointed and fresh and clean.
Staff friendly and helpful
Restaurant had a good range of meals for most, just didn't cater for dairy free group member.

We loved the view of Balclutha and the Clutha river, Jodie had supplied us with every thing that we could have wanted, the walk in shower was especially good. We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay and really felt at home. It was really convenient to explore the southern part of the south island of NZ. Jodie was a wonderful host.

Good sized, clean room with a well equipped kitchen - the only one on our trop that had a full oven/hob setup. It was a stopover on our southern scenic route rather than a destination. Our unit was at the end of the hotel closest to State Highway 1, so I was concerned about road noise overnight, but it wasn't an issue.

The hotel unit is clean, comfortable, and spacious.. it was great for an overnight stay. We were able to make a light tea and have breakfast which worked well for us. It is close to the main road and yet off enough to be very quiet.

The location and scenery was amazing, loved waking up to watch the alpacas, especially the babies! Not far from Balclutha and surrounding areas so able to pack the day with activities. The accommodation was comfortable and perfect.
