This property fit our needs PERECTLY. It is quite rustic but is a completely authentic woolshed that was historically used for shearing sheep. The apartment is a walled off corner in the larger shearing shed. We were able to make great use of the extra covered space in the shed for repacking our tramping gear while enjoying the comfort of the well-appointed apartment. Some travelers who are expecting Five Star accommodation are likely to be put off by farm odors and somewhat dated fixtures. We felt blessed to experience the inherent authenticity of the property. We could not have been more pleased with our experience.

You can take a scenic walk up the road but be prepared for...

You can take a scenic walk up the road but be prepared for dust if the conditions are dry. There are anglers' access fishing spots upriver from the cabin and my trout fishing husband liked this! No fish were caught but it was spectacular for fishing and picnicking. We were disappointed with our meal at the Owen River tavern, where wontons seem to be the meal of choice. We wanted Kiwi pub food! We also did a trip on the Buller jetboat as my 92 year old husband had never done one before, and it was fantastic! Thoroughly recommended!! Though he is very fit and healthy for his age and I suspect not many nonagenarians could cope with the access across the swing bridge to the boarding ramp, let alone the actual ride.
